PM Modi inaugurates projects worth ₹4,400 crore in Madurai
- Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for the 4-lane highway projects between Marakkanam-Puducherry and Paramakudi-Ramanathapuram. He dedicated the 4th railway line between Chennai Beach-Egmore to the nation.
- The Prime Minister inaugurated 8 major railway stations including Karaikudi, Morappur, Srivilliputhur, Pollachi, Cholavandhan, which were renovated under the 'Amrit Bharat' scheme. He launched new 'Aakashvani' radio services in major tourist and spiritual destinations of Tamil Nadu such as Kumbakonam, Vellore and Yercaud.
- Five-tier security has been put in place across Madurai city in view of the Prime Minister's visit. After concluding the government function, the Prime Minister will next visit the Thiruparankundram Subramanya Swamy Temple and offer darshan.

- The country's Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in February increased by 8.1 percent to cross Rs 1.83 lakh crore. This was due to an increase in revenue from imports and an improvement in domestic sales. This is an increase of 8.1 percent compared to February 2025.
- The total GST collection in February 2025 was Rs 1,83,609 crore. Of this, the total revenue received through domestic transactions increased by 5.3 percent to Rs 1.36 lakh crore and the revenue received through import of goods increased by 17.2 percent to Rs 47,837 crore. This was due to the increase in revenue received through imports and improvement in domestic sales.
- The total amount refunded increased by 10.2 percent to Rs 22,595 crore and the total net GST revenue increased by 7.9 percent to Rs 1.61 lakh crore. It is reported that the net cess revenue, which was Rs 13,481 crore in February 2025, has now decreased to Rs 5,063 crore.
- In September last year, the GST rates were reduced to two, 5% and 18%. Some luxury items and tobacco products were increased by a maximum of 40%. This led to an initial reduction in prices for about 375 items, leading to a collection of Rs 1.89 lakh crore.
- GST collection was Rs 1.96 lakh crore in October, Rs 1.70 lakh crore in November and Rs 1.74 lakh crore in December. The total GST collection for the April-February period of the current financial year is Rs 20.27 lakh crore.
- This is an increase of 8.3 per cent over the same period of the previous financial year of Rs 18.71 lakh crore. The total GST collection in the financial year 2024-25 is an unprecedented Rs 22.08 lakh crore. This GST collection reflects structural stability rather than cyclical fluctuations.
- The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is developing various weapons including missiles and guns required by the army. In this regard, a missile test that can accurately attack and destroy short-range enemy targets was successfully conducted yesterday in the Chandigarh sea area of Odisha.
- This type of missile, called 'Wishards', was manufactured domestically. This missile can be easily carried by humans. It has been developed by DRDO's Imrat Research Centre, other DRDO research centres and Indian industrial companies.
