88th Standing Committee Meeting of the National Board for Wildlife
- The 88th Standing Committee meeting of the National Board for Wildlife was held today in New Delhi under the chairmanship of the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav.
- The meeting considered 70 proposals related to public utility services, military services and infrastructure development in protected areas, wildlife sanctuaries, tiger reserves, and eco-sensitive zones, in accordance with the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
- The need to ensure basic services to the local community was discussed. The committee considered proposals related to the commencement of drinking water supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission, community health centers, road widening, 4G mobile towers, and broadcasting links.
- A proposal regarding a medium irrigation project in Madhya Pradesh for drinking water and irrigation water supply in Bundelkhand was also considered.
- The Standing Committee also considered 17 proposals related to the military concerning strategic infrastructure in border and high-altitude areas in the Union Territory of Ladakh and the state of Sikkim.
