Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the International Business Conference for Aerospace and Defense Industries
- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin today (7.10.2025) inaugurated the three-day International Conference for Aerospace and Defense Industry "AeroDefCon 2025" jointly organized by DITCO, BCI Aerospace (France), and Tamil Nadu Aerospace Industry Development Association at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, Chennai.
- The conference will be held from October 7 to 9 at the Chennai Trade Centre. The conference will serve as a key platform to connect international companies in the sector with the rapidly growing aerospace and defense industry ecosystem of Tamil Nadu.
- Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated India's second elephant bagan village, built at a cost of Rs 5.40 crore for the welfare of bagans and elephant keepers, at the Kozhikamuthi Elephant Camp in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, Coimbatore district, on behalf of the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Forests.
- He also issued appointment orders to 6 persons for the posts of elephant caretakers. It is noteworthy that the selfless service of bagans and kavadis who dedicate their lives to the care and companionship of elephants was recognized following the inauguration of India's first elephant bagan village at Theppakad in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve on 13.5.2025 by the Chief Minister.
- One of the oldest elephant camps in India, the Kozhikamuthi Elephant Camp is home to elephant bagans from a tribal community who have inherited traditional knowledge in elephant management over many generations.
- The camp currently houses 24 elephants. As per the Chief Minister's directions, these camps have been upgraded with modern facilities like elephant viewing gallery and visitor walkway to promote safety awareness.
- In order to enhance the strength of the Indian Navy, the indigenously built anti-submarine warship INS Androth has been commissioned into the Navy.
- The anti-submarine ship Androth was commissioned at a ceremony held in Visakhapatnam. The ceremony was presided over by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Commander-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, and was attended by senior naval officers and representatives of the shipyard.
- The induction of Androth into the Navy is another milestone in the Navy's continuous steps towards indigenization and capability development, a statement issued by the Eastern Navy said.
- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved four projects of the Ministry of Railways at a cost of Rs. 24,634 crore.
- Wardha – Bhushawal – 3rd and 4th line – 314 km (Maharashtra), Gondia – Dongargarh – 4th line – 84 km (Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh), Vadodara – Ratlam – 3rd and 4th line – 259 km (Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh) & Itarsi – Bhopal – Bina 4th line – 237 km (Madhya Pradesh).
- These four projects will cover 18 districts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh. This will increase the existing infrastructure of Indian Railways by about 894 km.
- The approved multi-track project will improve connectivity to about 3,633 villages with a population of about 85.84 lakh and spread over 2 pilot districts (Vidisha and Rajnandgaon).
- The project will provide rail connectivity to major tourist destinations across the country such as Sanchi, Satpura Tiger Reserve, Bhimbetka Rock, Hazara Falls and Navegaon National Park.
- It is a major route for transporting goods like coal, iron ore, cement, food grains and iron ore. It will be able to handle an additional 78 million tonnes of cargo per year.
