First Indian to enter the International Space Station
  • The Dragon spacecraft of the 'Axis 4' project, which was launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 12:01 PM IST yesterday, completed its 28-hour journey and reached the International Space Station at an altitude of 424 km above the North Atlantic Ocean at 4:01 PM IST today.
  • NASA's live video feed showed the Dragon spacecraft approaching the space station and the docking was completed at 4:15 PM. As soon as the Dragon spacecraft landed, Indian astronaut Shubhash Shukla created history by becoming the first Indian to enter the International Space Station.
First of eight Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) to be built by Goa Shipyard, Adamya, commissioned into the Indian Coast Guard
  • The first Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) under the Goa Shipyard’s eight Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) project, ‘Adamya’, was commissioned into the Indian Coast Guard in Goa today (June 26). The FPVs are the first type of vessels in the Coast Guard fleet to be equipped with pitch propellers and indigenously developed gearboxes. 
  • Their superior maneuverability and operational flexibility provide enhanced performance in maritime surveillance missions. The ship is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies including a 30 mm CRN-91 gun, two 12.7 mm fixed-position guns with fire control systems, integrated bridge system, integrated deck management system, automatic power management system, etc. 
  • These advanced systems also have the potential to enhance the effectiveness and counter-attack capabilities of India’s comprehensive maritime security operations.
21st Steering Committee Meeting of the Elephant Conservation Programme - Union Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav chaired
  • The 21st Steering Committee Meeting of the Elephant Conservation Programme was held today (26.06.2025) at the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy in Dehradun under the chairmanship of Shri Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
  • Senior officials, scientists and field experts from elephant-rich states participated in the meeting. The meeting was held to review the progress of the Elephant Conservation Programme with the relevant representatives and to discuss ways to protect elephants in the country.
  • The meeting also discussed the prevention of human-elephant conflicts, which continue to be a significant challenge to human security and elephant conservation.
