MoU with 7 leading banks to provide free life and accident insurance to Tamil Nadu government employees
  • Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who is very concerned about the welfare of government employees and their families, has ordered the payment of earned leave to government employees from this year and announced various benefits for the welfare of government employees in this legislative session.
  • When presenting the financial statement, the banks announced that in case of unexpected death or permanent disability of government officials in an accident, a personal accident insurance amount of Rs. 1 crore will be provided, financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakhs each for one daughter and up to Rs. 10 lakhs for two daughters for the marriage expenses of a daughter of a government official who has reached the marriageable age in the family of a government official who has died in an accident, a scholarship of up to Rs. 10 lakhs for the higher education of a daughter of a government official who has completed school education and is pursuing higher education in a college, and a life insurance amount of Rs. 10 lakhs will be provided in case of unexpected natural death of government officials during their service.
  • To provide the above-mentioned benefits, 7 pioneer banks namely State Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Indian Bank, Canara Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda and Union Bank of India have offered to provide them free of charge to government employees if they maintain their salary accounts.
  • Moreover, apart from these benefits, they have also offered to provide appropriate interest concessions when government employees take out personal bank loans, home loans and education loans.
  • To ensure that banks provide these benefits to government employees, an MoU was signed on behalf of the government in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin by the Director of Treasury and Accounts and senior officials of pioneer banks.
''One post, one pension'' for all retired High Court judges - Supreme Court verdict
  • The Supreme Court has issued an order to provide uniform pension to High Court judges without discrimination. The case, which was filed on the grounds of difference in pension provision, was heard by a bench headed by Chief Justice P.R. Kawai.
  • At that time, the Supreme Court said, "The principle of 'one post, one pension' is applicable to all retired High Court judges, whether they were appointed as High Court judges from the post of District Judge or Advocate."
  • Furthermore, the orders issued by the Supreme Court regarding the pension of retired High Court judges stated, "A Chief Justice of the High Court should be given a pension of Rs. 15 lakh per annum on retirement.
  • A High Court judge and additional judge should be given a pension of Rs. 13.6 lakh per annum on retirement. If a High Court judge dies while in office, the Central Government should provide family pension to his wife or legal heirs, whether he is serving permanently or on additional duty."
