PSLV C-61 rocket project fails - ISRO announcement
- The PSLV C-61 rocket developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was launched at 5.59 am today from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
- The rocket was carrying the new EOS-09 satellite (RISAT-1B) for Earth observation. In the initial phase, the first and second parts of the rocket separated successfully.
- However, ISRO Chairman Narayanan announced that this attempt was not fully completed due to a technical glitch during the separation of the third part.
- The Superbet Chess Classic tournament was going on in Bucharest, Romania. Praggnanandha performed well in the tournament and scored 5.5 points after 9 rounds.
