Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin appointed as Vice Chairman of State Planning Commission
- Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is the Chairman of the State Planning Commission of the Tamil Nadu government. Professor J. Jeranjan is the Vice Chairman, R. Srinivasan as a full-time member, M. Vijayabaskar as an additional full-time member, Sultan Ahmed Ismail, retired IAS officer K. Deenabandhu, Aiyaram Vilukku MLA N. Ezhilan, Mallika Srinivasan, J. Amalorpavanathan, G. Sivaraman and Narthaki Nataraj are also part-time members.
- Ramesh Chand Meena, Secretary of the Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Department, D. Udayachandran, Secretary of the Finance Department, and S. Sudha, IFS officer, are the Member Secretary.
- In this context, the Tamil Nadu government has appointed two additional people to the State Planning Commission. That is, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, as Minister of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, has been appointed as the non-official Vice President. Subsequently, J. Jayaranjan has been appointed as the acting Vice President.
- Apart from this, Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary N. Muruganantham has also been appointed as a non-official member. An order for this has been issued by the Tamil Nadu government.
- After senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis was unanimously elected as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Wednesday, the BJP coalition government led by him took oath today (Dec. 5).
- At the swearing-in ceremony held in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, State Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath.
- Following this, Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers. Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh and others participated in the swearing-in ceremony.
- In the 288-member Maharashtra assembly elections held on Nov. 20, the BJP-led ‘Mahayuti’ alliance won 230 seats and retained power.
- The Ministry of Defense has approved 5 modernization projects worth Rs. 21,772 crore in the military. The Procurement Council, headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, yesterday approved the purchase of 31 water jet high-speed boats for naval use.
- These high-speed boats will be used for patrolling, surveillance and rescue operations in coastal areas. These fast boats will also be used for anti-piracy operations. In addition, approval was given to purchase 120 high-speed boats to safely navigate warships in coastal areas.
- Approval was also given to install electronic security equipment such as jammers and radars in the Sukhoi fighter aircraft of the Air Force. This will increase the efficiency and safety of the aircraft.
- Approval was also given to purchase 6 modern light helicopters for the Coast Guard. Approval was also given to overhaul the engines of the T-72 and T-90 tanks, armored vehicles and Sukhoi fighter aircraft of the Army. This will increase their service life.
- The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is launching foreign satellites commercially through its 'NewSpace India Limited' organization. In that regard, an agreement was made to launch the twin satellite ProBa3, designed by the European Space Agency to study the outer space of the Sun, into space using India's PSLV rocket.
- Accordingly, it was announced that the PSLV C-59 rocket would be launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday, December 4 at 4.08 pm. The 25-hour countdown for this began on Tuesday, December 3.
- The rocket launch was postponed after some technical problems were detected in the ProBa-3 satellite during the final tests. Accordingly, the rocket launch was postponed to Thursday, December 5 at 4.04 pm today. In this situation, the PSLV C-59 satellite was successfully launched into space as planned.
