8 companies including Nokia, Microchip have signed an agreement with the Tamil Nadu government to start business
- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. These agreements were signed in the presence of Stalin. Through these, these companies will develop research and development centers and manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu.
- This will create thousands of jobs and achieve the goal of making Tamil Nadu a trillion dollar economy by 2030. Rs. 450 Crores investment with Nokia company will create 100 jobs in Chengalpattu district and through MoU with Yield Engineering Company in Coimbatore With an investment of Rs. 150 crores, a semi-conductor manufacturing factory and 300 jobs will be created and 500 jobs will be created in Chennai through GeekMinds.
- The first phase of excavation work was carried out in the Uchimedu area along the banks of the Vembakottai reservoir under the Vijayakarisalkulam panchayat near Sattur, Virudhunagar district.
- Of this, 3,254 objects were found and an exhibition was set up in the same area. The second phase of excavation work in the same area started on April 6.
- Archeology officials said that only 984 objects were found in the second phase of excavation. In this situation, in order to know the last 5000 years of micro stone age in Vijayakarisalkulam, the 3rd phase of excavation work has been going on since June 18 in Mettugadu area on the north bank of the river.
- The excavations yielded glass beads, stone beads, a female head piece with an ancient hairstyle, dating to AD. Many ancient artefacts including coins, jewelery and conch bangles dating back to the 16th century have been found.
- In this case, during the excavation on Friday, a decorated whole conch bracelet was found. The archeology department said that there may have been a hall for decorating and polishing the conch bangles. So far 1600 archeological objects have been found in the third phase of excavation.
- The Indian Navy has 17 submarines. 16 of these submarines are powered by diesel and electricity. Six of these ships are of Russia's Kilo class. Four of the ships belong to Germany's HD Double class. Another six ships belong to France's Scar Bean class.
- The only nuclear powered submarine, INS Arihant was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 2018. The ship is equipped with an 83 MW nuclear reactor capable of launching nuclear missiles.
- A second such nuclear powered submarine, INS Arigat was manufactured at Visakhapatnam Shipyard. The 6,000 ton ship has a range of 750 km. It has K-15 long-range missile.
- The ship was dedicated to the country after its trials were completed. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh dedicated the nuclear submarine INS Arigat to the nation at a function held in Visakhapatnam.
- India and Malaysia have very close political, economic, socio-cultural relations. To further strengthen this relationship, the Ministry of Tourism of India and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of the Government of Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector.
- The MoU was signed on 20 August 2024 between India's Minister of Tourism, Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Malaysia's Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. YP Datuk Seri Tiong King Singh.
- In a report released by the National Statistics Office, the agriculture sector registered a growth of 2 percent as against 3.7 percent in the April-June quarter of the financial year 2023-24. However, the growth of the manufacturing sector increased to 7 percent in the first quarter of the current fiscal compared to 5 percent.
- The expansion in gross value added of financial, real estate and professional services slowed to 7.1 percent from 12.6 percent in the year-ago quarter. GDP at constant prices is estimated at Rs 43.64 lakh crore in the first quarter of 2024-25.
- It was Rs 40.91 lakh crore in the first quarter of 2023-24. This shows a growth rate of 6.7 percent. Electricity, gas, drinking water supply and other utility services rose from 3.2 percent to 10.4 percent.
- The construction sector grew at 10.5 percent from 8.6 percent a year ago. Services related to trade, hotels, transport, communication and broadcasting declined to 5.7 percent from 9.7 percent a year ago.
