Change in Niti Aayog Committee
- Niti Aayog is a body set up in 2015 to replace the existing Planning Commission in India. The Prime Minister is acting as its chairman. The NDA coalition government led by Prime Minister Modi was sworn in for the third time last month.
- In this case, there has been a change in the Niti Aayog headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Leaders from NDA alliance parties have also been included in Niti Aayog. It has been announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will continue as the Chairman and Economist Suman K Peri will continue as the Vice Chairman of the Niti Aayog.
- Scientist VK Saraswat, agricultural economist Ramesh Chand, pediatrician VK Paul and macroeconomist Arvind Virmani will also continue as full-time members of the government think tank. It is reported that PVR Subramaniam will also be the CEO.
- Four ex-officio members are appointed. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been appointed as an ex-officio member of Niti Aayog, replacing Narendra Singh Tomar. Other official members include Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
