World Para Athletics Championship Series - Thangavelu wins gold
  • The 11th World Para Athletics Championship started in Japan on 17th. About 1,300 para-athletes from various countries including India have participated in this. Competitions are held in a total of 171 categories.
  • In the T63 final, Mariyappan stunned by clearing a height of over 1.88m. With this he has created a new record. Earlier in the same championship series, Sharad Kumar's height of 1.83 meters was the best record. Varun Singh finished fourth in the same category with a height of 1.78 meters. Another Indian, Pathier finished seventh.
  • Mariappan missed the opportunity to win bronze last time. In this context, he started the ongoing World Para Athletics Championship series with 1.74m. He gradually increased it to 1.78 meters, 1.82 meters, 1.85 meters and was amazing. Finally, he has set a record by crossing the height of 1.88 meters.
  • This is the first gold he has won at the World Para Athletics Championships. India has won a total of four golds in the series so far.

Appointment of R. Maha Devan as Chief Justice of Madras High Court 
  • SV Ganga Poorwala was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Madras High Court on 28 May 2023.
  • He is going to retire tomorrow i.e. May 23 after serving as the Chief Justice of Madras High Court for one year.
  • He is currently appointed as the Chief Justice of Madras High Court. According to President Draupadi Murmu R. Madras High Court has appointed Maha Devana as the Chief Justice and issued an order. And from May 24, R. It is reported that Mahadevan will look after his duties as the Chief Justice.
Appointment of Shri V Ramesh Babu as Member of Central Electricity Regulatory Commission
  • Mr. V. Ramesh Babu was sworn in as a member of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission on 21 May 2024. He was administered oath of office and oath of secrecy by the Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy, Mr. R.K. Singh was awarded.
  • Mr. V. Ramesh Babu holds an M.Tech degree in Thermal and Electrical Engineering and a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering. He held the post of Director (Operations) of National Thermal Power Corporation from May 2020 till his retirement. Prior to this he worked in various capacities in the company.
  • The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission was established by the Government of India under the provisions of the Electricity Regulatory Commissions Act, 1998. The commission consists of a chairman and three members.
