Today's development projects are related to sectors like railways, ports, oil pipelines, cooking gas distribution and sewage treatment. 
  • The Prime Minister inaugurated Indian Oil's 518 km Haldia-Barauni crude oil pipeline at a cost of Rs 2,790 crore. The pipeline passes through Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The pipeline will provide safe, cost-effective and environment-friendly crude oil to Paravuni Refinery, Bongaikan Refinery and Guwahati Refinery.

  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth Rs.35,700 crore at Sindri in Dhanpat, Jharkhand. 
  • Today's development projects include fertiliser, railways, electricity and coal. After inspecting the model of HURL, the Prime Minister also visited the Sindri plant control room.
The Prime Minister dedicated Hindustan Fertilizer & Chemical Company's Sindri Fertilizer Factory to the country
  • Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for this fertilizer factory in 2018. The plant will create 450 direct and 1,000 indirect jobs in the region. 
  • Apart from this, the region will benefit from the development of MSME vendors to supply various products to the industry.
Center's research body C-DOT signs MoU with Qualcomm to strengthen self-reliant India

The central government allocated the 3rd tranche of funds to the states
  • The tax revenue received by the central government through various taxes is shared with the states. In this case, the central government has allocated the 3rd installment of funds for the states in the current financial year. 
  • Of this, the maximum allocation of Rs.25,495 crores has been made to the state of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Rs.25,495 crore, Bihar Rs.14,295 crore, Madhya Pradesh Rs.11,157 crore, West Bengal Rs.10,692 crore, Maharashtra Rs. 8,978 crore, Rajasthan Rs 8,564 crore, Odisha Rs 6,435 crore, Tamil Nadu Rs 5,797 crore, Andhra Pradesh Rs 5,752 crore, Karnataka Rs 5,183 crore, Gujarat Rs 4,943 crore, Chhattisgarh Rs 4,842 crore and Jharkhand Rs 4,700 crore. Assam has been allocated Rs.4,446 crore and Telangana Rs.2,987 crore. 
  • Also, Rs 2,736 crore for Kerala, Rs 2,568 crore for Punjab, Rs 2,497 crore for Arunachal Pradesh, Rs 1,589 crore for Uttarakhand and Rs. 1,553 crore, Himachal Pradesh Rs 1,180 crore, Meghalaya Rs 1,090 crore, Manipur Rs 1,018 crore, Tripura Rs 1,006 crore, Nagaland Rs 809 crore, Mizoram Rs 711 crore, Sikkim Rs 551 crore and Goa Rs 549 crore. 
  • A total of Rs.1,42,122 crore has been allocated. While the tax distribution of Rs.72,961 crore has already been given to the states on the 12th, now an additional amount of Rs.1,42,122 crore has been given as the 3rd installment of February.
India's GDP increased by 8.4%
  • GDP in the third quarter of 2023-24 at constant (2011-12) prices is estimated at Rs 43.72 lakh crore. It stood at Rs 40.35 lakh crore in the third quarter of 2022-23, showing a growth rate of 8.4 per cent. 
  • Although economists had estimated GDP growth of less than 7 percent in the third quarter, government statistics showed that India's economy continued to expand rapidly. 
  • A double-digit growth rate in the construction sector (10.7 per cent), followed by a good growth rate in the manufacturing sector (8.5 per cent) boosted GDP growth in FY24, the government said.
Goods and Services Tax revenue in February 2024
  • Total Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue in February 2024 was Rs.1,68,337 crore. This is an increase of 12.5 percent compared to the same month in 2023.  Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST): Rs 31,785 crore, State Goods and Services Tax (SGST): Rs 39,615 crore, Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST): Charged on imported goods Rs. 38,593 crore including Rs.84,098 crore, Charged on imported goods Rs. 984 crore including Rs. 12,839 crore. 
  • For the month of February 2024, the Goods and Services Tax revenue for Milnath is Rs. 9,713 crores. This is an 11 percent growth compared to the same month last year. Last year in February Rs. 8,774 crore in revenue.
Defense Ministry signs five contracts worth Rs 39,125.39 crore to promote self-reliance in defense sector
  • As part of achieving self-reliance in the defense sector and to further promote the Make-in-India initiative, the Ministry of Defense today (March 1, 2024) in New Delhi announced Rs. 39,125.39 crore has signed five major procurement contracts. The agreements were exchanged in the presence of Defense Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh and Defense Secretary Mr. Krithar Aramane.
  • A contract was signed with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for procurement of aero-engines for MiG-29 aircraft. Two contracts were signed with Larsen and Toubro Ltd. for procurement of CIWS weapon system and procurement of High Power Radar (HPR). Two contracts signed with BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd for BrahMos missiles
