Revanth Reddy became the Chief Minister of Telangana
  • In the recently concluded assembly elections in Telangana, the Congress won 64 seats and wrested power from the PRS for the first time.
  • In a consultative meeting held in Delhi, the Congress leadership decided to appoint Revanth Reddy as Chief Minister.
  • Subsequently, it was said that Revanth Reddy will be sworn in as Chief Minister on December 7, along with 11 ministers. Accordingly, the swearing-in ceremony began at the LP Stadium in Hyderabad.
  • Indian Congress Committee President Mallikarjuna Kharge, Parliamentary Congress Committee President Sonia Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, MP Rahul Gandhi, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and many other leaders were present.
  • Later, as the swearing-in ceremony began, Revanth Reddy was sworn in as the first Congress chief minister in Telangana to administer the oath of office to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan. He was succeeded by Mallu Bhatti Wickramarka as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state. 
  • Along with these, 10 ministers took oath as ministers namely Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komathi Reddy, Venkat Reddy, Sitakka, Ponnam Prabhakar, Sridhar Babu, Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Konda Sureka, Jubali and Krishna Ponguleti. Congress has chosen Katham Prasad Kumar as Speaker.
450 crore to Tamil Nadu due to storm damage - Central Government announcement
  • Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have been severely affected by Cyclone Mikjam. Many parts of these states are inundated. 2nd tranche of funds under the State Disaster Relief Fund Scheme has been released in advance. 
  • Prime Minister Modi directed the Home Ministry to advance Rs 493.60 crore to Andhra Pradesh and Rs 450 crore to Tamil Nadu. The central government has already disbursed the first installment to both the states.
Short-range intercontinental ballistic missile Agni-1 was successfully test-fired
  • Short-range intercontinental ballistic missile 'Agni-1' was successfully test-fired today (December 07, 2023) from Odisha's Abdul Kalam Island. The Agni-1 missile is a highly accurate missile. 
  • It is capable of hitting targets with great precision. All functional and technical parameters were successfully verified during this test.
