Rs 18,000 crore release for farmers in 15th tranche, Rs 24,000 crore schemes for tribals - PM Modi launches
- The central government announced in 2021 that his birth anniversary (November 15) will be celebrated annually as 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas' (Tribal Pride Day). Nov. 15th is also celebrated as the founding day of Jharkhand state.
- In this context, Prime Minister Modi visited Ulihut, Birsa Munda's hometown yesterday, on the occasion of the 3rd Tribal Pride Day. There he was given an enthusiastic welcome by the local people.
- This has made Modi the first Prime Minister to visit Birsa Munda's hometown in person. Later, PM Modi paid respects to Birsa Munda statue by garlanding it.
- Later, Prime Minister Modi launched the Vixit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and the Prime Minister's Backward Tribal Groups Development Program (PVTG).
- Under this Rs 24 thousand crore scheme, basic facilities including road, telecommunication, electricity, housing, clean drinking water, education, health and nutrition will be provided in the tribal areas. This will benefit around 28 lakh tribals living in 22,544 villages in 18 states and union territories.
- Apart from this, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 7,200 crore in the state of Jharkhand in sectors including road, rail, education, coal, petroleum and natural gas.
- He started some projects in this. Also, Prime Minister Modi released Rs.18 thousand crore as 15th installment under PM Kisan scheme to more than 8 crore farmers across the country.
- “Ships from Indian, European Union navies engaged in joint naval exercises in the Gulf of Guinea. This was done in an effort to strengthen maritime security cooperation in the region.
- The joint exercise followed the third session of the EU-India Maritime Security Dialogue held on 5 October 2023 in Brussels. Accordingly, the joint naval exercise began on October 24 in the Gulf of Guinea.
- During the exercise, the Indian Navy's coastal patrol ship INS Sumedha worked alongside ships from three EU member states in the Gulf of Guinea. The Italian Navy ship IDS Foscari, French Navy ship FS Ventos and Spanish Navy ship Tornado were all involved in the exercise in international waters off the coast of Guyana.
- During that time, boarding, crew transfer between ships, taking off from French ship Ventos and Indian Navy ship Sumeda, and flying using helicopters have also been carried out.
- The patrol was conducted for 31 days in the Gulf of Guinea in the West African region. These actions indicate the shared commitment of India and the EU to support coastal states and Yaoundé maritime security in ensuring maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea.
- The 9th India-Sri Lanka joint military exercise "Mitra Shakti-2023" began today at Aundh (Pune). This training is conducted from 16th to 29th November 2023. The 120-strong Indian contingent consists mainly of soldiers from the Maratha Army unit.
- The Sri Lankan side has players from 53 divisions participating. 15 soldiers from Indian Air Force and 5 soldiers from Sri Lankan Air Force are participating in this exercise.
- The purpose of the exercise is to coordinate joint responses during counter-terrorism operations. Both sides will carry out strategic operations such as attack, search and destroy. In addition, military martial arts and marksmanship training is conducted. Yoga will be part of the exercise curriculum.
- Apart from helicopters, drones and unmanned aerial systems are being used in the Mitra Shakti-2023 exercise. Exercises related to securing helipads and evacuating casualties during counter-terrorism operations will also be jointly postponed by both sides.
- Defense Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh attended the 10th ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia on November 16, 2023.
- Addressing the gathering, he praised ASEAN for its role in promoting dialogue and consensus in the region. He reiterated India's commitment to free navigation and unhindered legal trade in international waterways in accordance with international laws, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
- Noting that terrorism is a serious threat to international peace and security, including in the ASEAN region, India proposed to co-chair the Expert Task Force on Counter-Terrorism.
