PM lays foundation stone for projects worth Rs 5,200 crore at Bodeli in Chota Udaipur, Gujarat
  • Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone for over Rs 5200 crore projects at Bodeli, Chota Udaipur, Gujarat. These include foundation laying and dedication of several projects worth more than Rs 4500 crore under the Skill Development School Scheme, 'Vidya Samiksa Kendra 2.0' and laying of foundation stones for various development projects.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stone for All India Radio (Akashwani) Dahod Phanpalai Broadcasting Station
  • The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of All India Radio (Akashwani) Dahot Phanpalai Broadcasting Station in Gujarat. The Prime Minister attended the foundation laying ceremony of the 10 KW Panpalai Broadcasting Station at Bodeli in the state through video presentation.
  • The station is to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.11.00 crore. It will reach local residents within a radius of about 55 km. It covers about 75% of the tribal district of Tahot. The frequency will also reach the neighboring tribal districts of Madhya Pradesh including Alirajpur and Jhabua.
Indian Air Force inducts first of new Tornier Do-228 aircraft
  • On March 10, the Ministry of Defense of India signed an agreement with the state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the purchase of Tornier Do-228 aircraft.
  • The deal was signed at a cost of Rs 667 crore. According to the contract, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited will supply six Tornier Do-228 aircraft to the Indian Air Force. Accordingly, the first Tornier Do-228 was delivered to the Indian Air Force today.
  • The Dornier-228 is a 19-seater multipurpose light transport aircraft. Each new aircraft is equipped with upgraded engines, five-bladed composite propellers, upgraded avionics that include more electronic equipment, and a glass cockpit.
  • These aircraft are used for transport, air force training, coast guarding, maritime surveillance, search and rescue missions. The introduction of the new Dornier Do-228 aircraft will enhance the Indian Air Force's capabilities in these missions. It will help the Indian Air Force to protect India's airspace.
Asian Games - Day 4
  • The 19th Asian Games are in full swing in Hangzhou, China. On the fourth day, the Indian women's shooters won two gold medals and brought pride to the nation. In women's 25m pistol shooting event, the Indian team consisting of Manubakar, Isha Singh and Sangwan Ritham won the gold medal by scoring 1,759 points.
  • In the women's 25m pistol individual category, Esha Singh scored 34 points and won the silver medal.
  • Indian athletes won two medals in women's 50m rifle individual event. Sift Kaur Samra won the gold with 469.6 points and set a new world record. In the same event, another Indian player Ashi won the bronze medal by scoring 451.9 points.
  • In the men's skeet shooting category, India won medals in both team and individual events. Also, Anand Jeet Singh has created history by winning a medal for the first time in individual skeet category.
  • The Indian sportsmen and women won 7 medals including 2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze on the fourth day of shooting.
  • Similarly, Vishnu Saravanan from Tamilnadu won bronze medal in sailing competition and brought pride to the nation. Finished third in the men's ILCA7 sailing category and bagged a bronze medal.
  • Overall, India is at the 7th position with 22 medals including 5 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze.
