Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Rs 13,000 crore 'PM Vishwakarma' scheme to benefit traditional artisans
- Srivishwakarma Jayanti was celebrated. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Rs.13,000 crore 'PM Vishwakarma' scheme. Thus the carpenter, boat maker, weapon maker, iron smith, basket maker, thresher, broom maker, twine maker, traditional mummy maker, goldsmith, potter, shoemaker, hammer and tool maker, sculptor, stone breaker, mason, barber, all over the country. , about 30 lakh families engaged in 18 types of traditional handicrafts such as garland maker, cloth washer, cloth stitcher, fish net maker will be benefited in the next 5 years.
- Under this scheme, the above mentioned artisans will be given loan up to Rs.3 lakh without interest. The first installment of Rs.1 lakh should be repaid within 18 months. Rs.2 lakh received in 2nd installment to be paid within 30 months. This loan is provided at a concessional interest rate of 5 percent. Central Government will bear the loan guarantee fee.
- Craftsmen will be given 40 basic trainings from 5 days to one week and will be provided with certificate and identity card. Aspirants can join advanced training for 15 days. Then they will be given an allowance of Rs.500 per day.
- Apart from this, a stipend of Rs.15,000 will be provided to the artisans to purchase necessary equipment. Self-employed artistes can also register for it. Beneficiary must be 18 years of age.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Delhi Airport Metro Express service from Dwarka Sector 21 to the new metro station 'Yashobhumi Dwarka Sector 25' at Yasobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25.
