  • Indian player HS Pranoi lost in the men's singles final of the Australian Open Badminton tournament.
  • The Australian Open International Badminton Tournament is being held in Sydney. In this case, in the final match of the men's singles division held yesterday, the Indian player H.S. Pranoi lost to China's Weng Hong Yang 9-21, 23-21, 20-22.
Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for renovating 508 railway stations across the country at a cost of Rs 24,470 crore
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for refurbishing 508 railway stations across the country, including 18 railway stations in Tamil Nadu, with state-of-the-art facilities at a cost of Rs 24,470 crore under the Amrit Bharat scheme. 
  • In Tamil Nadu, 18 railway stations namely Arakkonam, Chengalpattu, Kuduvancheri, Kummidipoondi, Jolarpettai, Karur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagercoil, Perambur, Bothanur, Salem, Thenkasi, Thanjavur, Tirupur, Tiruthani, Thiruvallur, Villupuram, Virudhunagar are being renovated at a cost of Rs.515 crore.
Change of name of Chennai Guindy Raj Bhavan Durbar Hall
  • A ceremony was held yesterday to re-name the Durbar Hall as Mahakavi Bharatiyar Mandapam at the Kindi Raj Bhavan. President Drarubathi Murmu, who attended the event, inaugurated the new name board. He also unveiled the portrait of Mahakavi Bharatiyar. Governor RN Ravi, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Leader of Opposition Edappadi Palaniswami, Perambalur MP, music composer Ilayaraja and others participated in this program.
Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, IIT Madras jointly organized Digital India seminar on 'India's Electronics Future through Risk Five (RISC-V)'
  • A one-day seminar titled 'Digital India RISC-V' was held today (6th August 2023) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Madras), Chennai to explain India's future of electronics through RISC-V (RISC-V).
  • The seminar featured insightful technical talks by respected academicians, industry experts, sales gallery of indigenously manufactured RISK-FIVE processors, panel discussion, special investor meeting etc.
  • The seminar was jointly organized by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, IIT Madras and IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation. Union Minister of State for Electronics and Technology Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar participated in it. IIT Madras Director Professor V. Kamakody along with researchers, professors, students and many others participated in the event.
  • The central government is taking concrete steps to achieve progress under the Self-reliant India scheme with the ambition of self-sufficiency. As a part of it Digital India Risk Five (RISC-V) Microprocessor (DIR-V) project has been launched. 
  • The goal of the program is to commercially succeed in silicon and design by December 2023 to create microprocessors that will benefit India and the world in the future.
