Nirmala Sitharaman laid the foundation stone of a world-class museum at Adichanallur
- Excavation work started in 2021 in Adichanallur Parambu area of Thoothukudi district. Nirmala Sitharaman laid the foundation stone for setting up a world-class museum here and inaugurated the site museum, which is the first in India.
- A glass floor has been erected over the pits excavated at two places in Adichanallur and the objects found there have been displayed.
- The Union Cabinet meeting was held in Delhi. In this meeting, the Cabinet approved Rs 1.39 lakh crore for providing optical fiber based broadband connectivity to 6.4 lakh rural households in the country.
- About 1.94 lakh villages have been connected with broadband till now under Bharatnet programme. It is also said that dead villages will get broadband connectivity in two and a half years.
- It is being implemented by Bharat Broadband Network Limited, a unit of state-owned BSNL in partnership with village-level entrepreneurs.
- In this pilot project, 3800 entrepreneurs were engaged to provide 3.51 lakh connections in 60 thousand villages. Internet consumption per month was recorded at 175 gigabytes per household.
- The scheme is implemented on a 50 per cent revenue sharing basis between BSNL and local entrepreneurs.
- The monthly broadband plan starts from Rs.399. It is expected that 2.5 lakh jobs will be created through this scheme of the government.
- Indian Standards Institution, the national standards body, has signed MoUs with 35 organizations across the country to promote collaboration in standardization and conformity assessment.
- These institutes include some prominent National Institutes of Technology (NITs) government and private engineering colleges from various states across the country.
- The MoU provides for collaboration of national and international technical groups, infrastructure support for research and development projects, joint organization of events on standardization and conformity assessment.
- The World Archery Championship is being held in Berlin, Germany. In the women's compound individual category, 17-year-old Indian player Aditi Swamy played against Mexico's Andrea Becerra in the final.
- Aditi Swamy won the gold medal with a score of 149-147.
- Aditi Swamy won the Junior World Championship in Ireland last July. Currently in the senior category, he is taking part in the World Championship.
- With this, Aditi Swamy has set the record of becoming the first Indian player to win a gold medal in the individual category at the World Championships and the youngest player in the world.
- The World Archery Championship series is being held in Berlin, Germany. Jyoti Sureka, Aditi Swamy and Barneeth Keller, who were part of the Indian team, defeated Mexico's Daphne Quintero, Ana Sofia Hernandez Zion and Andrea Becerra in the final.
