Srinagar Tulip Garden - Recognized by the Book of World Records as the largest in Asia
- The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden at Jabarwan foothills in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir was established in 2007 by former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
- Spread over 74 acres, it is Asia's largest tulip garden. A total of more than 15 lakh tulips of 68 varieties bloom here. This garden attracts many tourists.
- In this case, this garden has been recognized by the Book of World Records as the largest in Asia. Santhosh Shukla, Chairman and CEO of the World Book of Records presented the certificate to Kashmir Administrative Secretary (Flowers, Gardens and Parks) Bayas Sheikh at a ceremony held yesterday in Srinagar.
- The Asian Junior Squash Individual Championships were held in Dalian, China. India's Anahat Singh won the gold medal in the under-17 category. In the final, she defeated Ena Kuang of Hong Kong 3-1.
- Anahatsingh had earlier beaten Malaysia's Dois Lee in the quarter-finals and Whitney Isabelle Wilson in the semi-finals. Anahat Singh had also won gold medal in the series held in Thailand last year.
- Australia and New Zealand co-hosted the 9th edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup football series. This football festival started on 20th of last month (July) till today (20th August). A total of 32 teams participated and competed for the title.
