11 people including Jaishankar elected to Rajya Sabha
- The tenure of 10 Rajya Sabha members, including six elected from West Bengal, three from Gujarat and one from Goa, will end soon. After the last day, it was announced that the election will be held on the 24th to select new members for these seats.
- Three people contested on behalf of BJP from Gujarat, including External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, Babubhai Desai and Kesari Dev Singh.
- In this case, three people, including Jaishankar, who contested on behalf of the BJP, were elected unopposed. He too has been elected unopposed. Five candidates, including senior Trinamool Congress leader Derek O'Brien, were elected unopposed in West Bengal.
- Anand Maharaj, who contested on behalf of the BJP, was elected unopposed. Trinamool Congress candidate Shahketh Gokhale has won unopposed in the by-elections to one Rajya Sabha seat in West Bengal. Overall, 11 people have been elected to the Rajya Sabha unopposed.
- The Indian Army has entered into an agreement with Ashok Leyland, the parent company of the Hinduja Group, to procure military vehicles worth Rs.800 crore. The contract also includes procurement of FAD (Field Artillery Tract) and GTV (Gun Towing Vehicle).
- These vehicles will be handed over to the Army in 12 months. According to the statement, Ashok Leyland has designed various vehicles for use by the Indian Army.
- Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Textiles, Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal launched the sale of subsidized pulses under the name 'Bharat Baruppu'. This dal is sold at Rs 60 per kg and 30 kg at Rs 55 per kg.
