Order of the Nile awarded to Prime Minister Modi by the President of Egypt
- Prime Minister Modi left for Egypt in a private plane on an official visit. The Prime Minister of the country, Mustapha Madbuli, personally visited the airport to welcome him. A parade was also given to Prime Minister Modi there. This is the first time an Indian Prime Minister has visited Egypt in 26 years.
- Following this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respects at the Heliopolis War Memorial in Egypt. Prime Minister Modi visited the memorial erected there to commemorate the 3,799 Indian soldiers who lost their lives during World War II.
- PM Modi also visited the Al-Hakim Mosque, built in the 11th century and renovated by the Dawoodi Bora community from India. Prime Minister Modi visited the photographs and items displayed in the mosque. Then Prime Minister Modi was given souvenirs on behalf of Al-Hakim Masjid administration.
- In this context, Prime Minister Modi met the President of Egypt, Abdul Bada Al Sisi. MoUs were signed to strengthen bilateral relations. After that, Egyptian President Abdul Bada Al Sisi honored Prime Minister Modi with the Order of the Nile Award.
- Prime Minister Modi has gone to Egypt after completing his US visit. There, Prime Minister Modi held talks with CEO of Hassan Alam Holding Company, one of the largest Egyptian companies operating in the Middle East and North Africa region, Mohammed Medhat Hassan Alam, and Petroleum Strategist Tariq Hejji.
- Following this, Prime Minister Modi met President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. There was a detailed discussion on strengthening bilateral relations.
- Also, in the presence of Prime Minister Modi and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, MoUs were signed between India and Egypt in various fields. An agreement has reportedly been signed to elevate the bilateral relationship to a "strategic partnership". Also, three MoUs were signed in the fields of agriculture, archaeology, law and antiquities.
- REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Union Ministry of Energy, has awarded Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Rs. 3,045 crore has been decided to provide financial assistance. This decision to provide assistance was taken at the Board meeting of REC held at Bangalore on June 24, 2023,
- The second phase of the Bengaluru Metro project includes expansion of the first phase and the existing routes of the East-West Corridor and the North-South Corridor. The project will improve transport connectivity and ease traffic in Bengaluru.
- Once the second phase of the project is completed, the Bengaluru Metro project will have a total length of 114.39 km with 101 stations.
- REC Limited is a non-banking credit company (NBFC) focused on lending and development to the power sector across India. This financial assistance to PMRCL is part of REC's initiative to finance infrastructure development.
