Cabinet meeting approval to start business in Tamil Nadu
  • DMK led by Chief Minister M.K.Stalin Reign will complete the 2nd year and start the 3rd year on the 7th. In this context, the 12th meeting of the Tamil Nadu Cabinet was held yesterday at the Chief Secretariat under the leadership of Chief Minister Stalin. Tamil Nadu Ministers and Chief Secretary and other officials participated in this meeting which lasted for about an hour.
  • In this meeting, administrative approval was given for 5 companies to start business in Tamil Nadu. 5 companies including Caterpillar and Petronas from Malaysia have been approved to start business.
  • Also, a consultation has been made to celebrate the Karunanidhi Centenary in Tamil Nadu. In particular, they consulted on making arrangements for the President's visit, Madurai and Tiruvarur celebrations.
Air Marshal Balakrishnan Manikandan has taken over as the South Regional Commander of the Air Force
  • Air Marshal Balakrishnan Manikandan took charge as the South Zone Commander of the Air Force on 01 May 23. An alumnus of Gajakootam Sainik School and National Defense Academy, he was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on 7 June 1986. He has flown more than 5,400 hours in various types of helicopters and airplanes. He has served as an attack helicopter commander and flying instructor.
  • He holds Masters from Defense Services Staff College, Wellington, MMS from College of Defense Management, Secunderabad and M Phil from National Defense College, New Delhi.
  • He has served in various capacities in the Air Force and was previously a Senior Air Staff Officer in the Eastern Wing of the Air Force. Air Marshal Balakrishnan Manikandan is a recipient of the President's Awards of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vayu Sena Medal.
MoU between Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Rights Institute
  • The Used Water Management Scheme, introduced to provide financial assistance to cities with a population of less than one lakh, has ushered in a major transformation in the sanitation sector of urban areas. 
  • The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has signed an MoU with Wrights to focus on improving solid waste and used water management. The agreement was signed for technical assistance in solid waste management and used water management under Phase II Urban Clean India Project in the presence of Ministry Secretary Mr. Manoj Joshi, Joint Secretary Mr. Rupa Misra, Chief Managing Director of Rites.
  • According to the agreement, the Technical Support Division of Rites will provide technical assistance to the Urban Clean India Project for a period of three years. Support will be provided in areas including wastewater management, engineering and design practice of wastewater treatment plants. 
  • It is noteworthy that under the second phase of the Urban Clean India Plan, the focus is on strengthening sustainable solid waste management with a vision of creating waste-free cities.
