National Security Advisers Meeting of India and Central Asian Countries 2022
- A meeting of National Security Advisers of India and Central Asian countries was held in New Delhi. The National Security Advisers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan participated in this meeting chaired by our National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
- Turkmenistan was represented by the country's ambassador to India. The National Security Advisers of India and Central Asian countries discussed the steps to be taken jointly to prevent terrorism.
- Last October, the World Bank had forecast India's economic growth at 6.5 per cent, down from its previous estimate of 7.5 per cent. In this case, it has announced an increase from 6.5 percent to 6.9 percent.
- The World Bank said the revision was due to recovery from global economic shocks and stronger-than-expected growth in the second quarter. Amid global turmoil, an international agency has revised up India's growth forecast, for the first time.
- 'Pitch Ratings' has said that there has been no change in India's economic growth forecast of 7 per cent for the current financial year.
- Tamil Nadu Government Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine Centenary, International Health Conference Inaugural Ceremony held at Mamallapuram. Minister M. Subramanian participated in the conference and inaugurated the international conference. Later, he released a centenary stamp of medicine and a special video CD on the corona virus.
- Indonesia has enacted a controversial new criminal law that outlaws premarital sex and cohabitation. The government has indicated that the new laws apply to both Indonesians and foreigners.
- The new criminal law, which was unanimously approved by parliament, replaces the framework that has been in place since Indonesia's independence in 1946. A student-led group fought against the proposed new law when a full draft was released in September 2019.
- It also noted that it would curtail individual liberties. At least 300 people were injured in the protest. The draft, which was later shelved, has now been converted into law.
- India's Manisha Ramadoss has won the International Badminton Federation's Best Para Badminton Player of the Year 2022 award. 17-year-old Manisha has won 16 medals including 11 gold and 5 bronze in all competitions this year.
- This includes winning the SU5 category at the World Championship. Other Indian players such as Nithyasree Sumathi and Manasi Joshi were also in the running for this award.
- While India's Pramod Bhagat was also in contention for the best para athlete category, the award went to WH2 world champion and reigning Paralympic champion Daiki Kajiwara of Japan.
- Denmark's Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen won the best player award in the men's non-disabled category. India's HS Pranai was also in the competition for that. Japan's Akane Yamaguchi won the best player award.
- India's total coal production increased by 11.66% to 75.87 million tonnes in November 2022 as compared to 67.94 million tonnes in November 2021.
- Coal of India recorded a growth of 12.82% in November 2022, while Singareni Cooleries Company and Other Mines recorded growth of 7.84% and 6.87% respectively, according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Coal.
- Of the top 37 coal producing mines, 24 mines produced more than 100 percent. Production of five mines ranged from 80 to 100 percent. Shipments to power generation sector increased by 3.55% to 62.34 million tonnes in November 2022 as compared to 60.20 million tonnes last year.
- Coal-based power generation recorded a growth of 16.28% in November 2022 compared to November 2021. Also the total electricity generation in November 2022 is 14.63% more than the electricity generated in November 2021.
- E-Sanjeevani, the central government's free telemedicine service, has crossed another milestone by crossing 8 crore telemedicine contacts in a remarkable achievement. The last 1 crore consultations were recorded in a remarkable time frame of around 5 weeks. This shows the widespread adoption of telemedicine.
- e-Sanjeevani is a national telemedicine service, an e-health initiative of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It attempts to provide counseling via the website as an alternative to conventional face-to-face health consultations.
- This initiative, within 3 years, has become the largest government-owned telemedicine platform in the world. It has two features. One has successfully reached out to patients across all states and union territories. The other makes its presence felt in remote parts of the nation.
- e-Sanjivani Outpatient Department has 1,144 online outpatient departments with 2,22,026 specialists, doctors and healthcare workers. The site has achieved a record of serving 4.34 lakh patients in a single day.
