Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate of the country for July-September of the financial year 2022-23
- In a report released by the National Statistics Office, the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate in the 2nd quarter of the financial year 2022-23 from July to September is 6.3 percent.
- In the last financial year 2021-22, GDP growth was 8.4 percent at Rs 35.89 lakh crore during the same period, and now it is Rs 38.17 lakh crore. GDP rose 13.5 percent to Rs 64.95 lakh crore in the April-June first quarter. This was Rs 51.27 lakh crore during the same period in the previous financial year 2021-22.
- The National Awards ceremony for excellence in sports was held at the President's House in Delhi. The country's highest sports award, Major Dayan Chand Khel Ratna, was presented by President Draupathi Murmu to table tennis player Sarath Kamal from Tamil Nadu.
- Similarly, 25 people from Tamil Nadu including chess player Pragnananda, marksman Ilavenil Walarivan and differently abled badminton player Gerlin Anika were given Arjuna Award.
- The Dronacharya Award for Best Coach was given to Jeevanjot Singh, Muhammad Ali, Suma Siddharth and Sujith Mann.
- NASA's Orion spacecraft has reached a major milestone in its mission to orbit the moon. It reached a distance of about 4,30,000 kilometers (2,70,000 miles) beyond Earth on Monday. This is further than any spacecraft designed to carry astronauts has ever traveled.
- NASA is planning more complex missions with the Orion spacecraft. They are all part of NASA's Artemis program.
- National Joint Counter-Terrorism Training and Competition-2022 was conducted by National Security Forces at Manesar Camp in Haryana from 14th to 26th. The exercise helps to enhance the expertise of state anti-terrorist forces.
- At the state level, Tamil Nadu Commando Force and forces from Haryana, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and other states participated in this competition. In these exercises they selected the best team who trained effectively.
- Also, qualification tests were conducted for the commandos of each team on physical fitness, day and night shooting ability, ability to overcome commando obstacles, and ability to detect and defuse explosives.
- A team of 18 commandos belonging to the Tamil Nadu Commando Force under the leadership of Department Talavai Velu acted with skill and valor in the competition and due to the joint efforts of this team, they won the 2nd place in the Joint Anti-Terrorism Training-2022 competition at the Indian level and brought pride to the Tamil Nadu Police.
- Chief Minister M. K. Stalin had already made an announcement under Article 110 in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly that 1000 new buses would be purchased for Tamil Nadu in the fiscal year 2022-23.
- Accordingly, the Transport Department of Tamil Nadu Government has issued an ordinance for this purpose. 420 crore rupees have been earmarked for purchasing new buses after scrapping old buses.
- A total of 1000 new buses are to be procured for other lines excluding the Metropolitan Transport Corporation and Rapid Transport Corporation. A bus costs several Rs. 42 lakhs and the Tamil Nadu government has issued an ordinance allocating 420 crore rupees.
- 180 buses for Villupuram division, 100 buses for Salem division and 120 buses for Coimbatore division. Similarly, 250 buses will be purchased for Kumbakonam division, 270 buses for Madurai division and 130 buses for Nellai division.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the Manipur Sangai festival through video presentation. This most popular festival of the state will help make Manipur a world-class tourist destination.
- The festival is celebrated in the name of Sangai deer, the state animal of Manipur. This type of deer is found only in the state of Manipur.
- National Council for Cement and Construction Materials to organize 17th International Conference on Cement and Construction Materials.
- The theme of this year's conference, which is a research and development organization under the administrative control of the Union Ministry of Commerce, is 'Moving towards Zero Carbon Emissions'.
- The conference, which will be held from December 6 to 9, will be inaugurated by Mr. Anurag Jain, Secretary, Union Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Minister of State for Commerce Mr. Som Prakash will participate in the closing ceremony on 9th.

- The annual joint Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise 'Samanwai 2022' concluded today at Agra Air Force Base.
- Disaster recovery representatives from various parts of the country and ASEAN member countries participated in this joint exercise, which began on November 28.
- Potential opportunities in humanitarian aid disaster relief of the 'Samanwai 2022' exercise were also explored. The exercise is a function of key initiatives aimed at sharing knowledge, experience and best practices.
- The Indian Coast Guard conducted the 24th National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan and Preparedness Meeting at Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu on 30.11.2022. The meeting was presided over by Chairman and Director General, Indian Coast Guard, Mr VS Pathania.
- About 100 representatives of various Union Ministers, Central and State Government Departments and Agencies, State Pollution Control Boards, Ports and Oil Companies participated in it.
- The purpose of the meeting was to ensure a joint state of preparedness to deal with an oil or chemical spill in Indian waters. India is the third largest importer of crude oil in the world. This crude oil is imported through ships. Similarly, India ranks 6th in the world in terms of chemical imports.
- Marine hazards caused by oil and chemical spills must also be addressed. Since spills affect the coastal population and the marine environment, it is necessary to take preventive measures together.
- As part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations, a conference on the need for clean air, titled 'Gas - Vital Source of Life Energy', is being held in Bhubaneswar from 2nd to 4th December.
