For the first time in the country, the Tamil Nadu Government is implementing the 'Nilgiri Draft Project' - at a cost of Rs.25 crore
- The Nilgiri Range is one of the specialties of the Western Ghats. In order to protect the Mariyadu species and improve its habitats, a government order has been issued to implement the 'Nilgiri Mariyadu Project' for the first time in the country at a cost of Rs 25.14 crore.
World Rapid Chess - Bronze for Savita Sri
- India's P Savita Sri won the bronze medal in the women's category at the World Rapid Chess Championship in Kazakhstan on Wednesday. In this competition which ended on Wednesday in Almaty city, Savita finished 3rd place with 8 points after 11 rounds. India's main competitor Koneru Hampi finished 6th with 8 points.
- Though both had 8 points, Savita got the 3rd place in tie break. Padmini Routh was ranked 38th with 6 points and Dronavalli Harika was ranked 39th with the same points.
- Thania Sachthev got 50th position with 5.5 points. In this category, China's Dan Zhongyi became the champion with 8.5 points, and Kazakhstan's Satuvagasova Dinara took the 2nd place with the same points.
Indian Oil has launched an intensive TB eradication program in Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in collaboration with the Central Tuberculosis Unit
- In a historic milestone underlining India's commitment to combating the menace of TB, Indian Oil (Indian Oil Corporation) has signed an MoU with the Union TB Unit under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the states of Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to undertake an intensive TB eradication programme.
- The MoU reinforces Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision to end TB in India by 2025, five years ahead of the Sustainable Development Goals.
- The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Housing and Urban Development Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri and Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Mansukh Mandavia.
- It is said that 10 million people are infected with TB every year in the world and about 1.5 million people die due to this disease and India accounts for one fourth of the number of people affected by TB every year in the world.
