Peru's female president, Tina, is sworn in
- The South American country of Peru has been experiencing political instability for the past few years. In 2020, the country saw 3 presidents in 5 days. In June of last year, Pedro Castillo, a leftist who started life as a school teacher, defeated the rightist Keiko to become president.
- In this case, President Pedro Castillo, who declared a state of emergency, appeared in front of the country's television and spoke to the public. He declared a state of emergency in the country. President Pedro also said that Parliament will be dissolved.
- The MPs rejected the President's decision. But the country's parliament, which is controlled by the opposition, hastily took 'impeachment' action against him. A resolution was passed to deprive him of his office.
- 101 votes were cast in favor of the resolution. There were 6 votes against. 10 people abstained from voting. The President lost his post as the majority of MPs voted in favor of 'impeachment'.
- He was arrested within minutes. He has been accused of sedition. After the removal of the presidency, female leader Tina Polwarte assumed the role of president from vice president. 60-year-old Tina said that she will hold the office of President till 2026.
- Elections for 68 Legislative Assembly constituencies were held on November 12 in a single phase. Since the counting of votes started, both the parties, BJP and Congress, alternated and took the lead.
- In the end, the Congress won 40 seats and came to power. BJP candidates won in 25 constituencies and independents in 3 constituencies. In this election, Congress got 43.9 percent, BJP 43 percent and other parties 10.4 percent. Congress has won the government by a margin of about one percent.
- The Chief Election Commission grants national party recognition to a party that fulfills one of the following three conditions. 1. Out of the total 543 seats in the Lok Sabha, 2 percent of the seats, i.e. 11 MPs, should be obtained from three states. 2. Must get 6 percent votes in at least four state elections and four MPs in Lok Sabha.
- 3. Must be a recognized party in at least four states. Here, 6 percent of the votes or at least two MLAs must be secured. According to this, the Aam Aadmi Party, which was already a recognized party in the states of Delhi, Punjab and Goa, has emerged as a national party as it has got five MLAs in Gujarat as well.
- At present, there are eight national parties namely BJP, Congress, Nationalist Congress, Trinamool Congress, National People's Party - Sangma, Bahujan Samaj, EC, Marxist Communist.
- Elections for 182 constituencies in Gujarat were held in two phases on 1st and 5th. In this, 64.3 percent votes were recorded. This is 4 percent less than last election. Out of total 182 constituencies, BJP won 156 constituencies, achieving an unprecedented victory.
- BJP, which has already formed the government for 6 times, is now going to form the government for the 7th time. But in the current election, Congress has got only 17 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party, which contested the Gujarat elections alongside the BJP and the Congress, got only 5 seats.
- In the Gujarat elections, BJP got 52.5 percent, Congress 27.3 percent and AAP 12.9 percent. 128 AAP candidates and 44 Congress candidates have lost their deposits.
- The Wildlife (Protection) Amendment Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha. The Wildlife (Protection) Amendment Bill 2021 was introduced in Parliament on 17th December last year.
- Last year Dec. On 25th the Bill was sent to the Official Scrutiny Committee. Various things have been put in place, including proper management of protected areas, permission for livestock grazing, water extraction for local communities, etc. The bill was passed in the Lok Sabha last August and was passed in the Rajya Sabha.
- The 9th World Ayurveda Congress started at Panaji, Goa in the presence of Union Minister of State for Tourism and Shipping, Ports and Waterways Shri Pad Naik, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Secretary Ministry of AYUSH Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha.
- The 9th World Ayurveda Congress aims to showcase the efficacy and strength of Ayush systems of medicine at the global level. The third edition of the 'Ayushman' comic book series was also released on the occasion.
- An MoU was signed between the All India Institute of Ayurvedic Education and the Rosenberg European Ayurvedic Academy in Germany for conducting advanced research in traditional Indian medical systems.
- The Atal Innovation and Urban Transformation Movement called Amrut was launched on 25th June 2015 in selected 500 metros and small towns across the country.
- In these selected cities, basic infrastructure such as drinking water supply, sewage disposal, waste management, storm water drainage, green spaces, parks, non-motorized urban transport were initiated. Urban reforms, capacity building are included in this movement.
- The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved Rs 77,640 crore for implementation of State Annual Action Plans by all states and Union Territories. In this, the central government's financial assistance is Rs.35,990 crore.
- So far, States/UTs have taken up 5,823 projects worth Rs.82,222 crore. Out of this, 4,676 projects worth Rs.32,793 crore have been completed. Contracts have been awarded for 1,197 projects worth Rs.49,430 crore. These programs are at various stages.
- Out of Rs.35,990 crore central funding, Rs.31,198 crore has already been released. A total of Rs 37,533 crore has been disbursed under various sections of the Amrut Movement. So far 134 lakh drinking water pipe connections and 102 lakh waste water connections have been implemented under the Amrut initiative.
