3-day conference on urban mobility in Kochi

  • The 3-day 'Indian Urban Mobility Conference (UMI) and Exhibition 2022' will begin in Kochi, Kerala. Union Housing and Urban Affairs (HUA) Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will jointly inaugurate the conference.
  • This three-day Urban Movement Conference is jointly organized by the Union Ministry of HUA and the Government of Kerala. The main objective of the conference is to inform cities about international best transport practices and recent changes in them.
New Combat Uniform for Indian Army got Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
  • Months after unveiling a new combat uniform designed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology, the Indian Army has registered its new camouflage pattern and design with the Kolkata-based Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks to assert its ownership.
  • The registration was published in the Patent Office's official gazette on October 21, an Indian Army official said. The Army unveiled the new digital combat uniform during the Army Day parade on January 15 this year.
  • The exclusive 'Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)' of the design and camouflage system is now held only by the Indian Army. So any vendor not authorized to do so is illegal to manufacture and may face legal consequences.
  • Also the Indian Army can enforce exclusive rights to design and file infringement cases by way of civil action before a court of competent jurisdiction.
Pragnananda, Nandita gold in Asian chess series
  • The Asian ('Continental') Chess Championship series took place in Delhi, the capital of India. 92 people participated in the open category. The last, 9th round match took place. India's 17-year-old player, Pragnananda (Tamil), who had scored 6.5 points at the end of 8 rounds, faced fellow player Atiphan. Pragnananda came out with black pods.
  • The match was drawn on the 63rd move. Indian players Harsha, Narayanan, Shamsuddin, Murali Karthikeyan who had 6.0 points each in round 8 drew their matches. Subsequently, Pragnananda, who scored 7.0 points, won the gold medal by taking the 'No.-1' position. 
  • Apart from this, Pragnananda also qualified to participate in the World Cup series to be held in 2023. Indian players Harsha (6.5) and Atiphan (6.5) took the second and third positions.
  • 50 people participated in the women's category. Nandita (Tamil), who did not lose a single match, won the gold medal after finishing first with 7.5 points. He also qualified to participate in the World Cup series to be held in 2023. Priyanka (6.5) and Divya (6.5) got the next two places.

  • Finance Minister Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the largest auction of 141 mines. He inaugurated the sixth phase of commercial mining auction procedures in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman said that the reforms undertaken in the mining sector will lead to economic growth.
  • Noting the increasing cost of energy globally, he emphasized that more investments should be made in the coal and gas sector. He noted that coal imported for power generation has now reduced to 41 percent.
  • In this event, Minister of State for Coal Mr. Rao Sahib Thanve, Secretary for Coal Mr. Amrit Lal Meena, Additional Secretary Mr. Nagaraju and others participated.
Rivers festival 2022 named as Ganga Utsav
  • Ganga Utsav, the festival of rivers 2022 will be celebrated on 4th November in Delhi. Union Minister of Tourism Mr. Kishan Reddy will be the chief guest in the morning session of this function which will be held in two sessions at Major Dayanchand Arena on behalf of Clean Ganges National Movement of the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
  • Union Minister of State for Jaljakti and Tribal Affairs Mr. Bishweswar Tudu will also attend. With Ganga Utsav River Festival 2022, the National Clean Ganga Movement is taking the contribution of various stakeholders to the restoration of rivers to new heights. Ganga Utsav 2022 is celebrated to highlight the importance of rivers and to increase awareness about rivers.
  • Ganga Utsav 2022 will see various activities at Central, State and District level. Those who have donated the most funds for cleaning the Ganga will be honored by the Minister of Hydropower.
  • Focus will be on Arth Ganga project to strengthen connectivity with rivers. Active participation of District Ganga Committees in Ganga Utsav will be ensured.
