UN sanctions against Iran for non-cooperation Committee decision

  • The UN condemned Iran for not cooperating with them in the implementation of the nuclear agreement. The IAEA, the nuclear watchdog, has passed the resolution. In a resolution passed by the 35-member body, Iran has been accused of not providing technically credible answers to its questions.
  • Iran and major powers struck a deal in 2015 to lift economic sanctions on the country to ensure it would not develop a nuclear weapon. However, the US later withdrew from it.
New Governor appointed for West Bengal

Union Govt grants Rs 32 crore to 16 IITs for outstanding performance
  • A capacity building program for industrial value addition has been introduced with World Bank assistance to improve the overall efficiency of Union Government Vocational Training Institutes.
  • Under this scheme, 13 government vocational training centers and 3 private vocational training centers have been approved for subsidy of Rs.29.01 crore.
  • At present, the Union Government has issued an order to provide a total subsidy of Rs. 32 crores to 16 more State Vocational Training Institutes at the rate of Rs. 2 crore each in consideration of the good functioning of all the vocational training institutes in Tamil Nadu.

5th Executive Committee Meeting of National Investment and Infrastructure Fund
  • The 5th Executive Committee meeting of National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) was held in New Delhi in the evening (17.11.2022) chaired by Nirmala Sitharaman.
  • The Executive Board said that NIIF has been developed as an internationally trusted and commercial platform. The Central Government also invests in this fund with the support of prestigious global and local investors.
  • The Finance Minister asked the NIIF team to speed up the work of this fund and attract investments. Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman praised the NIIF team for constantly talking to investors from various countries who are interested in investing in India.
  • The meeting was attended by Mr. Ajay Seth, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Mr. Vivek Joshi, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Chairman, State Bank of India, Mr. Dinesh Kara.
