36th National Games - Day 5
- The 36th National Games are being held in six cities in Gujarat including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar. Around 7,000 athletes from 28 Indian states and eight Union Territories and Services (teams of the Indian Armed Forces) compete for medals in 36 different sports.
- It also includes the traditional Olympic Games and India's indigenous sports of Mallagamba, Go-Go and Kabaddi. The final of the women's netball tournament saw a tight contest between Haryana and Punjab. Ariana beat Punjab 53-49 to win the gold medal.
- Similarly, in the men's netball final between Haryana and Telangana, Haryana defeated Telangana 75-73 to win gold. Haryana player Rishabh Yadav won another gold in archery today in the individual round.
- The women's hockey team continues to win Pool A matches. Haryana beat Gujarat 30-1 in the first match in Division A. Similarly, Haryana beat Odisha 4-0 in another match against Odisha. Besides, in today's match against Uttar Pradesh, Haryana women's hockey team continued their winning streak by defeating Uttar Pradesh 5-1.
- The Indian Armed Forces teams have been collecting medals in the National Games with a total of 89 medals including 40 gold, 25 silver and 24 bronze and are at the top of the medal list. Haryana team is at the 2nd position with a total of 66 medals including 25 gold, 22 silver and 19 bronze.
- As far as the Tamil Nadu team is concerned, they have won a total of 53 medals including 18 gold, 17 silver and 18 bronze and are at the 4th place in the medal list.
- The Climate Change Conference (COP27) is going to be held in Egypt from November 6 to 18 in order to find a solution to climate change. Delegates from many countries of the world are going to participate in this conference.
- The UN has contracted with Coca-Cola to host the conference. The deal with Coca-Cola, the world's largest producer of plastic bottles and the world's number one polluter, to the climate change conference has sparked controversy.
- Coca-Cola produces 120 billion plastic bottles a year. Responding to these controversies, Coca-Cola has said that it is ready to work with the United Nations to remove plastic waste from the ocean, and that it is committed to recycling its company's plastic bottles by 2030, and that it will take steps to prevent 100 percent carbon emissions by 2050.
