Appointment of US Ambassador to India
- Elizabeth Jones, 74, a coordinator for the relocation of Americans from Afghanistan, has been appointed as the US ambassador to India.
- The order to this effect has been issued by the Office of the President of the United States. Elizabeth will soon take charge of the US Embassy in New Delhi, the White House said in a statement.
- The committee was set up under the chairmanship of retired Karnataka High Court judge Nagamogandas to enhance the existing reservation for SCs and tribals living in the state.
- In its study and report to the government, the committee recommended increasing the reservation for SCs from 15 percent to 17 percent and the reservation for tribals from 3 percent to 7 percent.
