Online Gambling Prohibition Bill passed
- The Tamil Nadu Assembly started and ended on 17th. A committee was formed under the chairmanship of retired High Court judge Sanduru to legislate on 'online' games. Based on the committee's report, the government decided to ban online gambling. For this, an ordinance was issued to regulate online games.
- The Governor approved the Emergency Act on October 1. The Bill was tabled in the Assembly and passed. The Act provides for imprisonment of up to three months or a fine of up to Rs 5,000 or both, for anyone engaging in online gaming with money or other betting items.
- Any person who advertises or causes to be advertised in the media shall be liable to imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or to fine which may extend to five lakh rupees or to both.
- The Act provides for imprisonment of up to three years or a fine of Rs 10 lakh or both for a person who provides online gambling services.
- Apart from this, the Bill which would enable the State Government to appoint the Vice-Chancellor of Tamil University; 12 bills, including the bill related to the Tamil Nadu Liquor Prohibition Amendment Ordinance 2022, were passed in this session.
- Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Defense Expo in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. At that time, he also laid the foundation stone for the Air Force base at Deesa on the India-Pakistan border. The North West region has air bases at Barodi in Rajasthan, Bhuj in Gujarat and Nalia. Deesa Bagh where the airport is located. It is 130 km from the border.

- Hookah bars (Hookah bars) in Chennai are increasing suddenly and causing serious health problems. Many restaurants offer this service in designated smoking areas and allow smoking. At present there is no law regulating smokehouses in Tamil Nadu.
- Therefore amend the Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertising and Regulation of Trade, Commerce, Manufacture, Supply and Distribution) Act-2003 to ban smoking parlors and punish violators with imprisonment up to 3 years and fine up to Rs.50,000. It has decided to impose punishment. The Bill was subsequently passed after a voice vote.
- It is the 12th year that the Defense Exhibition is being held under the name Path to Pride. Prime Minister Modi has arrived in Gujarat on a two-day visit to inaugurate the exhibition and participate in various programmes.
- This time, the State Governments and Union Territories have been invited to set up stalls at the Defense Exhibition. For the first time, only Indian companies are participating in this defense exhibition.
- Indian companies operating with the help of foreign companies, companies registered and operated by foreign companies in India, and foreign companies working in collaboration with Indian companies participate in it.
- Inaugurating the exhibition, Prime Minister Modi unveiled the HDT-40 training aircraft manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. This aircraft is designed to assist and suit trainee pilots.
- PM Modi launched 'Mission Defspace' with an aim to create innovative solutions for defense forces in space through industry and startups. Apart from that, Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone for Deesa Air Base in Gujarat.
- This defense exhibition is being held on the one year anniversary of the creation of 7 new companies that manufacture defense logistics and equipment. 451 MoUs will be signed with various companies in this exhibition.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today launched the Best Schools Movement at Trimandri in Atalaj, Gujarat. An allocation of Rs.10,000 crore has been made for this movement.
- The Prime Minister also inaugurated projects worth Rs.4260 crore during the event held at Trimandri. New classrooms, modern equipped classrooms, computer labs and overall improvement of basic infrastructure will help strengthen the educational infrastructure in the state.
- A bill to amend the Tamil University Act-1982 is being tabled in the Assembly today. Accordingly, the word "Government" should be substituted for the word "Vendar" in the Act. In Gujarat, Telangana and Karnataka, it decided to empower the government to appoint vice-chancellors of state universities.
- Likewise, bills were passed in the assembly on April 25 to amend the laws of 12 universities in Tamil Nadu. Accordingly, a bill to amend the Tamil University Act-1982 is being tabled, the bill said. These bills were passed in the assembly after a voice vote by the MLAs.
