Best Geocoded Products Award 2022
- The Geocode Registry in India is located in Chennai. An online poll was conducted by the Intellectual Property Office of India to select and award the best Geo-coded products in the country so far.
- In this, Thanjavur plate from Tamil Nadu received the highest number of votes and was selected for the award in the Handicrafts category.
- Telangana's famous non-vegetarian food product Hyderabad Haleem has been selected for the award in the food product category, in agricultural products, Kandamal turmeric grown by tribals in Odisha's Kandamal district, Mysore sandalwood soap from Karnataka state in the manufactured products category, and a red stone from Varanasi region in the natural products from the earth category.
- The Central Government currently fixes the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 23 crops grown during Rabi and Kharib seasons.
- In this context, the Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs met yesterday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It was approved to increase the MSP of 6 products including wheat.
- Last year 2021-2022, the minimum support price of wheat was Rs.2,015 per quintal. It has been increased to Rs.2,125. The production cost of wheat is estimated at Rs.1,065 per quintal. The MSP of mustard has been increased by Rs 400 per quintal to Rs 5,450.
- The MSP of barley has been raised to Rs 1,735 per quintal from Rs 1,635 per quintal. The MSP of pulses has been raised from Rs 5,230 to Rs 5,335. The MSP of Mysore pulses has been raised from Rs 5,500 to Rs 6,000 per quintal.

- For this, Rs.29.76 crore has been included in the supplementary estimates. A total of Rs.336.38 crore has been included under the water resources department in the supplementary estimates.
- An additional Rs.227.16 crore has been sanctioned as final compensation to the owners of acquired land for the Chennai Outer Ring Road (Part-1) project. A total of Rs 369.74 crore has been included under the highways, minor ports sector in the supplementary estimates.
- In this academic year 2022-23, the government has given administrative sanction for setting up 28 special schools at a cost of Rs.169.42 crore. For this, Rs.100.82 crore has been added under the school education department.
- The government has sanctioned Rs 252.29 crore as in-kind advances to cooperative and public sector sugar mills to provide fair and remunerative arrears to sugarcane farmers. This amount is included under Agriculture.
- The government has sanctioned Rs.168 crore from the infrastructure and facilities fund for the construction of a new suburban bus stand at Kuthambakkam village next to Tirumashisai in Tiruvallur district. This amount is included under housing sector.
