National Para Table Tennis Tournament for Alternative Skills

  • Indore, Madhya Pradesh The National Para Table Tennis Tournament for Alternative Skills was held in Indore. About 250 athletes from all over the country took part in it. Thirteen people participated on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Para Table Tennis Development Association.
  • Tamil Nadu player Baby Sahana won gold in 'Class-9' category and Tamil Nadu player Raj Aravindan won gold in 'Class 5' category. JD Madan won silver in 'Class 1' category and Dr. Bharathi won bronze in 'Class 3' category.
Delhi Airport holds the record for most travelers in the world
  • The airline has released a report on domestic and foreign passenger service. The Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi was ranked second in handling domestic and foreign passengers last March.
  • The airport was in third place last year. At the Delhi airport in March, 36 lakh passengers booked air tickets. Atlanta Airport in the United States topped the list with 44 lakh air tickets sold in the same month.
  • Dubai, which was second in handling air passengers in the same month last year, was pushed to third place in March this year, with 35 lakh passengers. The number of Indian air passengers has been on the rise since the restrictions imposed due to the corona spread, which were completely relaxed last March.
Artillery test at Pokhran
  • The state-of-the-art Howitzer artillery test called ATAGS, a locally designed ATAGS, was conducted between April 26 and May 2 in Pokhran, Jaisalmer District, Rajasthan and was a success.
  • This has been confirmed by the Union Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) involved in the project as part of an effort to modernize the Indian Army's artillery.
  • While DRDO is developing this howitzer cannon, Bharat Borge and Tata Advanced Systems are expected to manufacture it for military use in the future.
World Junior Championship Weightlifting Competition
  • The World Junior Championship Weightlifting Championships are being held in Greece. India's Harshada Sarath has won gold in this competition. Harshada Sarath, 16, lifted 150kg in the 45kg weight category at the World Junior Championships in Greece.  He also became the first Indian to win gold in the World Junior Championships. 
  • On Tuesday, India's Gnaneswari Yadav and V. Rithika competed in the women's 49 kg category at the tournament in Greece. Gnaneswari took 2nd place in the snatch category with a total weight of 73 kg and 83 kg in the clean & joke category with a total weight of 156 kg. 
  • Rithika finished 3rd in her snatch category with 69kg in the snatch category and 81kg in the clean & joke category with a weight of 150kg. Windy Kandika Aiza, a bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics and a native of Indonesia, won the gold medal with a total weight of 183 kg (83 + 102).
  • Competitors from China, North Korea and Thailand, who usually challenge in this category, did not participate this time. Earlier, Hoshada Sarath of India won gold in the women's 45kg category on Monday, the first day of the competition.
