Agreements signed between India and the United Kingdom

  • British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is on a two-day visit to India, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his Delhi-Hyderabad residence.
  • The two leaders met individually and later as a group and held talks. Following the talks, bilateral agreements were exchanged in the fields of defense, trade, environment and energy. Following this, Narendra Modi and Boris Johnson held a joint press conference.
  • Various important decisions were made in these talks. Significant agreements were signed between the two countries on further expanding cooperation in the fields of defense, free trade and clean energy.
  • The most important aspect of the Modi-Boris talks was the establishment of a free trade agreement between the two countries.
  • The UK is set to offer a 'transparent public export license' to provide military equipment and weapons to India within a specified period of time without administrative problems. It was also decided to sign the free trade agreement later this year, before Diwali.
Appointment of Suman K Berry as Vice President of Nidi Ayog 

  • Suman K Perry has been appointed as Nidi Ayog Vice President. Rajiv Kumar, who has been the Vice President of Nitish Kumar since 2017, will hold the post till April. Closing on the 30th.
  • In this situation Rajiv Kumar abruptly resigned from his post. Following the central acceptance of his resignation, Suman K Perry became the new Vice President. He is scheduled to register on May 1.
Asian Wrestling Championship
  • India's Anshu Malik and Radhika won silver on Thursday at the Asian Wrestling Championships.
  • Anshu, the reigning champion in the women's 57kg category, defeated Uzbekistan's Shokita Akmitova in the first round and Singapore's Daniel Xu Sing Lim in the next round.
  • In the following semifinals, he defeated Mongolia's Polotuya Kurelku to reach the final. In it he fell to Sukumi Sakura of Japan and won silver. Anshu currently holds his 3rd medal in the competition. It has previously won bronze in 2020 and gold in 2021.
  • Similarly, in the 65 kg division final, Radhika - Kazakhstan's Tarika Aben won the silver medal. Another Indian, Manisha, defeated Kazakhstan's Ayalim Kesimova in the first round of the 62kg division. However, she lost to Japan's Nonoka Osaki in the semifinals.
  • Following this, Manisha defeated Hanpit Lee of South Korea in the round for the bronze medal and won the medal. In the 53 kg category, Swati Shinde was eliminated in both the rounds in which he played.
Letter of guarantee worth over Rs. 9,000 crore received in major AYUSH segments at the global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Conference
  • India's first Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Conference held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat was attended by over Rs. A valuable letter of guarantee has been received and history has been made.
  • It is guaranteed to invest over Rs 7,000 crore in the fast-moving consumer goods sector, about Rs 1,000 crore in medical travel, Rs 345 crore in the pharmaceutical sector, Rs 300 crore in the agriculture sector and Rs 60 crore in the technology and diagnostics sector.
  • The five key agreements were signed on 20 April 2022 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the inaugural event.
Department of Food and Public Distribution receives Prime Minister's Public Administration Award 2020 for 'One Country One Ration Card' Scheme
  • The Department of Food and Public Distribution has received the Prime Minister's Public Administration Award for the year 2020. Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the award at the Prime Minister's Public Administration Awards Ceremony held in New Delhi on April 21 on the occasion of Civil Services Day. This award is given under the category of Innovation (General) - Central.
  • This innovative scheme has enabled National Food Security Program beneficiaries, especially migrant workers, to receive their ration items in whole / in part, without hindrance, with the help of biometric technology at fair price shops. Also, other family members can get the rest of the groceries.
  • During the Corona period, food was distributed through 5 lakh fair price shops. 121 lakh metric tonnes worth Rs 36,000 crore worth of food items were distributed inside and outside the state.
Agriculture and Processed Food Export Development Authority signs Memorandum of Understanding with National Research Development Corporation
  • The Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Research and Development Organization (NRDC) to promote the Export Value Series.
  • The Memorandum of Understanding was signed to utilize the expertise of the two companies to integrate activities for the benefit of agriculture and related sectors with a view to bringing better value to shareholders.
  • The purpose of the MoU is to implement agricultural export policy and strengthen the export value chain. Under the MoU, the two companies will co-operate in joint ventures to commercialize technology related to agriculture and food processing at various stages of the value chain to increase exports of agricultural products.
  • Creating and developing user-friendly and energy-efficient tools for small-scale farmers are key areas of collaboration, strengthening the startup ecology and sharing mutual knowledge.
  • The MoU was signed by Aboda Secretary NRDC Chairman and Managing Director Commodore (Retired) Amit Rastogi in the presence of Aboda Chairman Dr M Angamuthu at the Aboda Head Office in New Delhi.
  • NRDC is an agency of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, established in 1953 with the objective of developing and commercializing technologies, inventions and patents.
