The Chief minister laid the foundation stone of the Rs 1,000 crore International Furniture Park
- Foundation stone laying ceremony for setting up an international furniture garden at a cost of Rs. 1000 Crore. Tamil Nadu Industry Minister Thangam Tennarasu presided over the function.
- The groundbreaking ceremony for the furniture garden was held at Thoothukudi. At that time, a memorandum of understanding was signed with 8 companies for an investment of Rs. 2,845 crore to start a business in the park.
- In addition, 25 MoUs were signed in the presence of First Minister MK Stalin to start new businesses with an investment of Rs 1,910 crore to boost business growth and create employment in the southern districts.
- On behalf of the industry, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with 6 companies to invest Rs. 1,643 crore and create new employment for 3,653 people and officials and company representatives exchanged copies of the contract.
- Similarly, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have signed MoUs with 19 companies on behalf of the industry to invest Rs 267 crore and provide employment to 2,373 people and officials and company representatives exchanged copies of the contract.
- Through this, MoUs were signed for 33 projects with a total investment of Rs. 4,755 crore and employment for 17,476 people.
- In the northeastern state of Meghalaya, the BJP, led by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, is in power. The border issue between Meghalaya and its neighboring state of Assam has been going on for years.
- Meghalaya claimed 36 villages along the two state borders. However, Assam refused to accept it. Later, committees headed by two state ministers were set up to look into the matter.
- The team was involved in demarcating the border. To the disputed border villages, two state teams visited and inspected. To define the boundary, special technical devices were used.
- Of the 36 villages claimed, the committee unanimously agreed that the remaining 30 villages, except six, should be part of the state of Meghalaya. A memorandum of understanding in this regard was signed between the two states last January.

- Chief Minister MK Stalin has inaugurated a floating solar plant on 75 acres at a cost of Rs. 150.4 Crores.
- The power plant is said to be capable of generating 42 MW of electricity per year at 22 MW per day. All the electricity generated is to be used for the production of SPIC and Green Star fertilizers.
- The 9th India-Sri Lanka Joint Naval Exercise is scheduled to begin today and continue till the 10th. The training is to be conducted in two phases.
- The first phase of training is scheduled to take place today and tomorrow at the Visakhapatnam port. The second phase of the exercise is scheduled to take place on the 9th and 10th in the Bay of Bengal.
- The patrol vessel LLNS Saurala of the Sri Lanka Navy and the INS Kirsch of the Indian Navy are participating in the exercise. Earlier, a joint naval exercise between the two countries was held in Trincomalee in October 2020.
- The joint naval exercise is aimed at enhancing understanding, experience sharing and maritime operations between the two navies.
- The Government of India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the continuation of the so-called Swatantrada Sainik Samman Yojana (SSSY) scheme for the financial years 2021-22 to 2025-26 after March 31, 2021. Its total financial value is Rs 3,274.87 crore.
