Tamilnadu CM Stalin opens biodiversity park at 72-acre limestone mine
- Ramco is taking limestone, one of the raw materials for making cement, to Bandalgudi village near Aruppukottai in Virudhunagar district. It has now gone to a depth of 60 meters. Ramco has refurbished Rs. 5 Crores
- The eco-park is divided into a waterway, arid vegetation, cactus adenium garden, pavilion park, lawn and stone garden and is designed to be easily understood by the public.
- There is also a stone garden, a walkway, and a 40-acre forest (Miyawaki) set up with unwanted stones and native plants in the park's mine.
- In addition, aquatic pathways, arid land plants, 200 species of trees and herbaceous plants are being maintained to create biodiversity sources for the animals.
- The park looks like a jungle as it is home to thousands of birds, butterflies and micro-organisms. It is planned to plant 5 lakh native saplings in an area of 400 acres by the end of 2023.
- The opening ceremony of the park was held at Bandalgudi yesterday evening. Virudhunagar District Collector J. Meghnathreddy presided. Revenue Minister Sathur Ramachandran and Industry Minister Thangam Tennarasu were in the forefront. Chief visited Stalin's Ecological Park.
