Indian Appointment as CEO of FedEx America

Rs 299 crore released for construction of 20,000 green houses - Government of Tamil Nadu

Rs 16,500 crore for Indo-Pacific project

Assam - 50 year historic agreement to resolve Meghalaya border issue
  • The border issue between Meghalaya and the neighboring state of Assam has been going on since 1972. The Meghalaya government claimed 36 villages along the two state borders. However, the Assam government refused to comply.
  • In order to find a solution to this problem, committees were set up under the chairmanship of the two state ministers and work was carried out to demarcate the border. The Chief Ministers of the two states sent a draft resolution to Union Home Minister Amit Shah last January. It was studied and reviewed.
  • In this case, a memorandum of understanding was reached. In it, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma and Meghalaya Chief Minister Kondrat Sangma, led by Home Minister Amit Shah, agreed to resolve the issue and signed an agreement to that effect.
  • Accordingly, there is a way to resolve the issue in 6 of the 12 locations on the 884 point 9 km long border between the two states. Of the 36.79 sq km of land in question, 18.51 sq km will be allotted to Assam and 18.28 sq km to Meghalaya.
