Indian-made pilot training aircraft Hansa-NG's sea level test success

• The National Aeronautical Laboratory (NAL) in Bangalore is one of the laboratories of the Scientific and Industrial Research Council of India (CSIR). The laboratory developed the Hansa two-person aircraft in 1993 for pilot training.
• The new generation Hansa - NG (New Generation) with advanced technologies was first launched in September 2021.
• The aircraft was subjected to 18 hours of sea level testing from Feb. 19 to March 5. Various functions of the aircraft were successfully tested. With these tests the aircraft has been flown 37 times so far and tested for 50 hours.

Former Supreme Court Justice Sikri has been appointed as the chairman of the Sardam Project Committee

• The Sardam National Highway project was launched in 2016 to connect the holy sites of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri in Uttarakhand and to improve road connectivity along the border.
• Professor Ravi Chopra was appointed on August 8, 2019 as the Chairman of the High Level Committee of the Supreme Court for this project.
• In this context, Ravi Chopra wrote a letter to the Supreme Court last January asking him to step down from the panel. Justices Chandrasooty and Suryakant accepted Professor Ravi's resignation letter.
• Following this, retired Supreme Court Judge Sikri has been appointed as the Chairman of the High Level Committee for the Sardam Project. He already chairs the monitoring committee that oversees the project's environmental issues and other issues related to the project.

Reserve Bank bans PAYTM Bank

• The order issued by the General Manager of the Reserve Bank of India, Yogesh Agarwal, states that PAYTM Payments Bank should immediately stop adding new customers.
• PAYTM should also hire a qualified IT auditor to oversee the overall IT management of the company.
• PAYTM Payments Bank will issue an RBI order on the addition of a new customer following a report by IT auditors.

Debashish Panda appointed IRDAI Chairman

• Debashish Panda has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI). Panda is a former secretary in the Financial Services Department. His term of office will initially be three years, according to the government.

EU provides Rs 2,600 crore for emergency funding to Ukraine

• Russian forces have been on the offensive in Ukraine since Feb. 24. They have captured major cities in Ukraine during the war and are carrying out a series of attacks.
• Meanwhile, the European Commission has stepped in to provide Ukraine with Rs 10,200 crore (2 1.2 billion) in emergency funding as the Ukrainian government seeks the help of several countries to tackle the war.
• In this context, the European Commission has provided Ukraine with the first tranche of Rs 2,600 crore (300 million) in emergency funding, according to its chairman Ursula van der Leyen.

NHBC pays Rs 933.61 crore as interim dividend to Government of India for fiscal 2021-22

• On March 4, 2022, NHBC Ltd., India's leading hydropower company and Government of India's 'Mini Ratna' Type-I Company, paid an interim dividend of Rs 933.61 crore to the Government of India for the financial year 2021-22.
• The company has already disbursed Rs 249.44 crore to the Government of India in the current financial year 2021-22 on the basis of final dividends for the financial year 2020-21. The total dividend paid to the Government of India for the financial year 2021-22 is Rs. 1183.05 crore.
• The company had posted a net profit of Rs 2,977.62 crore in the nine months ended fiscal. 2829.16 crore during the same period last year. The company had a net profit of Rs 3233.37 crore for the financial year 2020-21.
