India has overtaken Britain in the list of 'unicorn' companies

  • In the startup world, companies with a value of $ 100 billion (approximately Rs. 7,500 crore in India) are called ‘unicorn’ companies. Bangalore is home to the largest number of unicorn companies in Indian cities. It is followed by Mumbai, Pune, Thane and Gurugram near Delhi.
  • India has moved up to third place in the Unicorn list, surpassing Britain by 33 companies in a single year. India ranked fourth in the number of unicorn companies last year.
  • Beijus, an education services start-up, tops the list of Indian unicorn companies with $ 2.1 trillion. The United States and China hold the first and second places on the unicorn list, respectively.

  • Chennai's Sabari defeated Akashdeep Singh of Chandigarh in the final of the WBC India Welderweight Championship for the first time by the World Boxing Council's (WBC) India welterweight title.

South Korea beat Japan to win Asian Cup of Hockey title

South Indian Roll Tournament - Tamil Nadu Women's Team Champion
  • The second South Indian level Junior and Seniors Roll Championship on behalf of Tamil Nadu Roll Association was held at Rajan Indoor Stadium, Chinnalapatti Division, Dindigul District.
  • The tournament was attended by a large number of teams from five states - Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Pondicherry and Andhra Pradesh. The Tamil Nadu women's team topped the senior and junior divisions in the two-day Nanda tournament and clinched the title.
  • Kerala team came second and Puducherry team came third. Tamil Nadu team topped the men's junior category. The Kerala team also finished second.
Senior Hockey Punjab Team Champion
  • The final between the two teams ended in a goalless draw in Pune, Maharashtra. Following this, Punjab won 2-1 in a shootout to clinch the title. Uttar Pradesh ranked 2nd. Meanwhile, the Karnataka - Maharashtra teams found the field in the clash for 3rd and 4th place. In this, Karnataka defeated Maharashtra 5-2 and took 3rd place.
Cabinet approves Memorandum of Understanding between the Chartered Institute of Accountants of India and the Association of Legal Authorized Auditors of Poland
  • The Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Chartered Institute of Accountants of India and the Association of Legal Authorized Auditors of Poland.
  • The agreement is for mutual cooperation in membership management, professional ethics, technical research, continuous professional development, training for professional accounting, monitoring audit quality, improvement in accounting knowledge, professional and intellectual development.
  • The agreement seeks to create opportunities in Poland to provide advanced training to Indian Chartered Accountants and academics in the specialty of short to long term.
  • It is expected to strengthen track presence in Europe. The Memorandum of Understanding also aims to work together to enhance a mutually beneficial relationship for the members of both organizations.
Cabinet approves Memorandum of Understanding between the Competition Commission of India and the Competition Commission of Mauritius
  • The Union Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Competition Commission of India and the Competition Commission of Mauritius on cooperation in improving and strengthening anti-monopoly law and policy.
  • The agreement is expected to be used to address anti-competitive restrictions affecting international trade, to enhance the implementation of the Competitiveness Act 2002 by the Competitiveness Commission of India, to increase understanding of competition policy, capacity building and diplomatic benefits.
Union Cabinet approves minimum support price for copra procurement for the 2022 season
  • The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the minimum support price for copra for the 2022 procurement season.
  • The minimum support price for groundnut, which was Rs 10,335 per quintal in the 2021 season, has been increased to Rs 10,590 per quintal in the 2022 season. Similarly, the minimum support price for a ball cauldron has been raised from Rs 10,600 to Rs 11,000.
  • The decision was taken on the recommendation of the Agricultural Expenditure and Pricing Commission. This will ensure a 50% profit margin as an important and progressive measure to double the income of farmers by 2022.
Central Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has published a book titled 'Perforated Statistics Overview 2021'.
  • Fragrance Statistics An Overview 2021 ”was published by the Union Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar on 21 December 2021. This book contains details of the place where spices are cultivated, their production, export, import, price and value of various spices produced in the country.
  • This book is published by the Directorate of Baku and Perfume Development, which is under the control of the Central Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. This book covers the key aspects of the development of the perfume industry in the country during the last 7 years from 2014-15 to 2020-21.
  • In the country, the production of perfumes has increased from 67.64 lakh tonnes in 2014-15 to 106.79 lakh tonnes in 2020-21 and the cultivated area has increased from 32.24 lakh ha to 45.28 lakh ha.
  • The production of important spices such as cumin, garlic, ginger, anise, dill, coriander, chilli and turmeric has increased significantly. Perfume exports also rose to Rs 29,535 crore from Rs 14,900 crore.

  • Dr. Bharathi Praveen Pawar, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, today launched the National Oxygen Monitoring Program of the Union Ministry of Health at the AIIMS Hospital in New Delhi, considering the role of medical oxygen as a life-saving public health product and the need to increase the efficiency of health workers in handling medical oxygen.
  • The project aims to empower health workers to engage in oxygen management with the necessary knowledge and skills to avoid wastage of medical oxygen and ensure consistent use.
