Development Committee to promote exports in Tamil Nadu
- Inaugurating the conference on Tamil Nadu in the forefront of "boom in exports", Chief Minister Stalin announced that an Export Promotion Committee would be set up to promote exports.
- Accordingly, the State Export Promotion Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu, His Excellency. It has been announced that the committee will meet at least once in 6 months to review the progress of exports.
- It has also been announced that an Executive Sub-Committee headed by the Principal Secretary, Department of Industry will be functioning and this Committee will meet once in 2 months and report to the Chief Secretary, who is the Chairman of the Export Development Committee.
- India, the United States, Australia and Japan are the four countries that have formed the Quad. It is an international organization like the SAARC.
- The summit of the Quad Organization is to be held in New York City. Prime Minister Modi, who is on a four-day visit to the United States to attend the conference, was warmly welcomed.
- Following this, Prime Minister Modi held consultations with the CEOs of five of the world's leading companies: Qualcomm, Adobe, Blackstone Group, General Atomics and First Solar.
- The Arjun Mark 1A cannon is manufactured by the Army Research and Development Organization (DRDO). The Ministry of Defense has already approved the use of this sophisticated artillery.
- Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the state-of-the-art artillery manufactured at the Avadi Heavy Vehicle Factory in February.
- In this context, the Ministry of Defense has placed an 'order' to purchase 118 Arjun Mark 1A cannons for Rs 7,523 crore. This artillery weighed 58.5 tons. It is 10.638 meters long and 9.456 meters high. Made to run at 1,400 horsepower.
- This artillery vehicle is powered by a modern 120mm gun and is designed to attack at any time and in any weather. These artillery vehicles are capable of speeds of up to 70 km / h on flat surfaces, 40 km / h on hilly and rugged terrain.
- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that elections will be held on October 4 to fill the two vacant seats in Tamil Nadu. Kanimozhi Somu, Rajesh Kumar and 3 independent candidates filed nominations for the post on behalf of the DMK.
- In it, the petitions of independent candidates Agni Sriramachandran, Padmarajan and Pushparaj were dismissed as none of the legislators proposed. It was officially announced that the nominations of Kanimozhi Somu and Rajesh Kumar, who had filed their nomination papers on behalf of the DMK, were accepted.
- In the current financial year, the Expenditure Department under the Union Ministry of Finance has released funds for the urban local bodies of the states. Accordingly, Rs. 2,427 crore has been released for 11 state urban local bodies including Tamil Nadu. Of this, Rs 268 crore has been allocated for Tamil Nadu alone.
- This is the first amount to be released to urban local bodies in the current financial year. The funds are to be spent on works including drinking water, sanitation, rainwater harvesting, water recycling and solid waste management.
