4 important resolutions passed at the Tamil Nadu Cabinet meeting

  • Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu The Cabinet meeting was held at the General Secretariat under the chairmanship of Stalin. Details of the resolutions passed at the Cabinet meeting have been released.
  • It was decided at this meeting that the financial statement for the current year could be tabled in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on 13-8-2021 (Friday).
  • In addition, as soon as the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) took office, it was decided to file a separate financial statement for the agriculture sector in the current session, as already stated in the election manifesto that a separate financial report for the agriculture sector would be tabled in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
  • It was also decided to introduce in the current session of the Legislative Assembly a bill to provide 7.5 per cent quota in other vocational courses for students studying in government schools.
Tamil Nadu University of Education is on the '12B 'status list
  • The Tamil Nadu Teacher Education University was established in July 2008 under the auspices of the Government of Tamil Nadu with the objective of improving teacher education and producing excellent teachers.
  • According to the University Grants Commission, only 12B-ranked educational institutions will be eligible for federal funding and approval to implement new educational programs.
  • Tamil Nadu Teachers' Educational University has been placed on the list of UGC's 12B Status State Universities, granting 12B status to the Tamil Nadu Teacher Education University, which was approved at the 551st Standing Committee Meeting of the UGC.

Cabinet approves extension of 'Bokso' fast-track courts
  • The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of 1023 fast track special courts, including 389 fast track special courts operating under the ‘Pokcho’ Act to prevent sexual violence against children.
  • 1,572 crore has been earmarked for these pox courts to function till March 2023. Of this, the central government will spend Rs 971 crore. The share of state governments is 601 crore. It can be implemented from the Nirbhaya Fund.
  • Apart from this, the Union Cabinet has also approved the extension of the Comprehensive Education Movement program called 'Samakra Siksha Abhiyan' till March 2026. Out of this Rs 2.94 lakh crore, the central government will spend Rs 1.85 lakh crore as its share.
  • The scheme will benefit 11.6 lakh schools, 15.6 crore students and 57 lakh teachers. Under this program, which aims to enhance the quality of school education, the goal is to increase the student's learning ability.
