- மேலும் கடல் மாசடைதல் , வெப்பமயமாதல் உள்ளிட்டவற்றால் உலகம் முழுவதும் கடல் பவள பாறைகள் ஆபத்தில் இருப்பதாக அமெரிக்காவில் சுற்றுசூழல் பாதுகாப்பு அமைப்பு சமீபத்தில் வெளியிட்ட அறிவிப்பில் எச்சரித்துள்ளது.
- உலகின் கவின் மிகு பவள பாறைகள் நிறைந்த கடல் பகுதிகளாகஆஸ்திரேலியா, மாலத்தீவு , பிஜி, இந்தோனேசியா, மெக்சிகோ, இந்தியா உள்ளிட்ட கடல் பகுதிகள் திகழ்கிறது.
- உலகின் மிக நீளமான பவளப்பாறை ஆஸ்திரேலியாவின் குயின்ஸ்லாந்து மாகாண கடல் பகுதியில் உள்ளது. இது 'கிரேட் பேரியர் பவளப்பாறை' என அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.

- இங்கு பவளப் பாறைகள் அழிந்து வருவதால், கடலின் வெப்பநிலை அதிகரித்து வருவதாக ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் தெரிவித்திருந்தனர். கடல் வாழ் உயிரனங்கள் வாழ்வதற்கு பவளப்பாறைகளும் முக்கியமானதாக திகழ்கிறது. கடலின் அளவில் 0.1 சதவீதம் பவளப்பாறைகள் உள்ளன.
