Ivory dice found in excavation

• According to the Archaeological Survey of Tamil Nadu, ivory dice have been found during the 7th phase of excavations. In the excavation of Keeladi, a square dice with a beautiful engraving made of ivory was found. In this shop the faces of each side are stamped with 2 circular incisions around a point.
• The shop is very painstakingly painted one on top of the other, 1.5 cm on all 4 sides. Made to size and weigh 4 grams. Thus, the ancient people may have had the habit of playing dice for entertainment.

Delhi and Mumbai are among the 50 safest cities in the world

• The Economist Group, based in London, the UK's capital, publishes an annual list of the safest cities in the world. The list for 2021 was recently released. The Danish capital, Copenhagen, topped the list. Canada's Toronto, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo were next in line. New York City in the United States was ranked 12th.
• The British capital London was ranked 15th, the Chinese capital Beijing 36th and the Russian capital Moscow 38th. The Indian capital Delhi is ranked 48th and the commercial city of Mumbai is ranked 50th.

Guinness World Record Award for corona research

• UK-based experts have studied Corona in Indian hospitals and hospitals around the world. A total of more than 1.4 lakh corona patients in 116 countries were included in the study. The study, conducted by experts from the University of Edinburgh, University of Birmingham in the UK, involved 15,025 scientists from around the world.
• The study is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest study ever conducted by a researcher. Anil Panku, an expert of Indian descent who participated in the study, said that the study was aimed at creating a complete understanding of the corona that posed a threat to the world.

7.5 per cent quota bill for vocational courses and government school students passed

• In engineering courses, 7.5 per cent reservation is given to government school students. The bill was passed in the Assembly with the support of all parties. Consequently, this provision comes into effect in the current academic year.

'Bumper to Bumper' Insurance Policy - Mandatory for new vehicles

• The Chennai High Court has ordered that a new 'bumper to bumper' insurance policy be made mandatory for new vehicles from September 1. The Department of Transportation has instructed the Additional Secretary to forward this order to the insurance companies.

BSF appoints Pankaj Singh as new Director

• Senior IPS5 officer "Pankaj Kumar Singh" has been appointed as the Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF).
• Similarly, Sanjay Arora, an IPS officer from the 1988 Division of Tamil Nadu, has been appointed as the new Chief of the Indo-Tibetan Border Patrol (ITBP).
• Balaji Srivastav has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD).

Asian Cup Basketball Tournament - Indian team selection

• Thanjavur player Arvind Annathurai has been selected for India's squad for the Asian Cup Basketball Championship to be held in Indonesia.
