The Ministry of Labour and Employment
is going to launch “Santusht” platform next month to ensure an efficient
implementation of the labour laws at the grass root levels. It will also look
into the services provided by the retirement fund body, EPFO and health
insurance and service provider ESIC for those working in the formal sector.

The Department of Cane Development
of the state government of Uttar Pradesh has recently started an awareness
campaign for the farmers to protect their sugarcane crop from locusts.
During the month end of December
2019, a huge swarm of locusts destroyed more than 25000 hectares of crop lands
in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Several thousand litres of pesticides were used by
the state governments to kill the locusts. Gujarat recently announced Rs.18500
per hectare as relief assistance for the affected farmers.

Indian Highways Management
Company, incorporated by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), has
recently introduced the ‘Missed Call Alert Facility’ to check the FASTag balance
of the users.
The toll-free number ‘8884333331’
will be available throughout the day. The users of FASTags, who have registered
their mobile numbers with NHAI Prepaid wallet, can give a missed call to the
number, to check their FASTag balance. The prepaid payment can be done through
the My FASTag App, which can be linked to the NHAI wallet or to the Savings
account of 13 banks.

The state government of
Maharashtra launched the ‘ Shiv Bhojan’ scheme, which aims to provide a meal to
the poor for Rs 10. The scheme was launched on the occasion of the 71st
Republic Day celebrations.
Under the scheme, thalis or lunch
plates would be available to the people at designated centres in all districts.
Nearly 50 ‘Shiv-Bhojan’ outlets were set up in a pilot basis, which will be
extended to other parts of the state. The remaining fund needed for providing
food will be given as grant to the district collectorate by the state
government.

Union Minister of State Jitendra
Singh recently launched the version 3.0 of Bhuvan Panchayat web Portal, which
will function with the help of satellite technology developed by the Indian
Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The project is aimed at providing
geo-spatial services to assist the process of developing Gram Panchayats,
undertaken by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. The integrated high-resolution
satellite data will provide better visualisation and enable decentralised
planning and monitoring of schemes at panchayat levels.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently approved the Phase II of the Swachh
Bharat Mission (Grameen) till the financial year 2024-25.
The second phase will be
implemented from 2020-21 to 2024-25, with main focus on Open Defecation Free
sustainability and Solid and Liquid Waste Management, collectively called as
ODF Plus. The total outlay of the scheme is Rs. 1,40,881 Crores.

The government has formed a
committee under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare to work out the
operational modalities of ‘Kisan Rail’.
In the recent budget, Finance
Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed to set up a ‘Kisan Rail’ through the
public-private-partnership (PPP) mode to transport perishable goods. The
proposed committee also includes representatives of the Indian Railways and
some representatives from Ministry of Railways also.

National AYUSH Morbidity and
Standardized Terminologies Electronic Portal (NAMASTE Portal) is developed by
the Ministry of AYUSH.
Recently, the Ministry has
developed National Ayurveda Morbidity Codes (NAMC), which is a comprehensive
classification of diseases described in Ayurveda and Standardized Ayurveda
Terminologies. These codes are made available in the NAMASTE portal. The Ministry
of AYUSH is also set to establish a nationwide digital platform called “AYUSH
GRID” which aims to integrate all AYUSH facilities.

about new schemes and projects presented in a better manner to the
stakeholders.

An awareness programme called
‘Poshan Pakhwara or Nutritional Fortnight’ is being held in the UT of Goa from
March 8 to 22.
The programme is aimed at creating
awareness about nutrition among the general public. Several activities are
being organised with special focus on the health of women, children and people
who are suffering from malnutrition. Guidance by nutrition experts and
Paediatricians is also provided to the people.

Technology, Harsh Vardhan launched a new Helpline no 011-26565285, which aims
at assisting women students, researchers, entrepreneurs and scientists to get
their queries answered related to schemes of Ministry of Science and Technology

Women Scientist Scheme C (KIRAN
IPR) and the newly launched Vigyan Jyoti scheme are the schemes of Ministry of
Science and Technology. Under the Vigyan Jyoti scheme, selected women are
assisted to attend science camps at IITs, NITs, and other leading institutions.

The Union Minister for Skill
Development and Entrepreneurship Mahendra Nath Pandey launched the Mahatma
Gandhi National Fellowship programme in the Indian Institute of Management in
Bengaluru.
The Fellowship is a part of the
SANKALP programme of the ministry and aims at preparing District Skill
Development plan by providing skilled manpower for District Skill Committees.
Under this pilot project, IIM-B shall train 75 graduates for two years in
preparing the District skill plan.

As per the recent announcement
from Minister for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh,
there shall be a common eligibility test (CET) from 2021 for applicants for
jobs in railways, banks and lower levels of Central government jobs.
The Centre is to set up an
autonomous National Recruitment Agency (NRA) to conduct this online test. The
CET is expected to replace the first level tests conducted by the Staff
Selection Commission (SSC), the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and the
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).

In order to curb the spread of
misinformation and fake news on coronavirus and to reduce the panic among the
citizens regarding the COVID-19, the Government of India has launched an
official chatbot on the social media platform WhatsApp.
This Chatbot is named ‘MyGov
Corona Helpdesk’ and is available to all WhatsApp users. Any user can save the
number announced (9013151515) and start using the chatbot.

launched a new portal named ‘Stranded in India’, to assist the foreign tourists
who are stranded in the country amid the prevailing lockdown.
The portal aims to extend support
to tourists by circulating information about the services available for them in

The poAs per the recent
announcement of the Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, more than 50 crore
vulnerable citizens will be eligible for free COVID-19 testing and treatment
under Ayushman Bharat- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana- PMJAY.

The Union Agriculture Minister
launched new features of National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform amid the
lockdown, which includes Warehouse based trading module in e-NAM software, FPO
trading module in e-NAM where FPOs can trade their produce from the collection
centre and enhanced version of logistic module.
e-NAM platform was launched in
India on 14 April 2016 as a nation-wide electronic trade portal, which links
APMCs across the state. 585 mandis in 16 States and 2 Union Territories have
been integrated on e-NAM portal.

As per the recent announcement of
the Union MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari, he has devised a scheme to set up a Rs 1
trillion fund, which is to be launched by the Government after the approval of
Cabinet.
This fund will be utilised for
repaying outstanding payments to MSMEs owed by the PSUs, central and state
governments and major industries. This is also expected to increase liquidity
in the market. As per his statement, the Ministry is also working on
fast-tracking GST refunds to help MSMEs

National Council for Science &
Technology Communication (NCSTC) which functions under the Department of
Science & Technology (DST) has launched a programme on health and risk
communication named ‘Year of Awareness on Science & Health (YASH)’.
The programme aims at promoting
response on health and inculcate scientific temper and health consciousness

Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya
Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJK) which functions under the Union Ministry of
Chemicals and Fertilizers have started accepting the orders for medicines on
WhatsApp and e-mail. The prescriptions uploaded online are delivered at the
doorsteps of the users.
Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya
Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) was launched with an aim of providing quality
generic medicines to the people at affordable rates. At present there are over
6300 PMBJKs operating in 726 districts across the country.

‘Mukhyamantri Yuba Yogayog Yojana’
is a welfare scheme of the state of Tripura. It was seen in news as the state’s
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb launched an online portal scholarships.gov.in
as a part of the scheme.
Under the scheme, the students who
are in final year in colleges or Universities can apply through the portal and
the state government will provide Rs. 5,000 as a grant for smart phone. More
than 14000 students will be benefitted by this scheme.

Palike (BBMP), the city corporation of Bengaluru has launched ‘Pranavayu
programme’ to create awareness about self-examination of respiratory health for
the city-dwellers.
The programme aims at educating
people with low oxygen level in their blood to check themselves at an early
stage. Under the programme, several advertisements are published in media about
self-examination.

The state government of Odisha has
recently promulgated an ordinance allowing investors and farmers to enter into
agreement for contract farming.
As per the state government, the
aim of the ordinance was to facilitate farmers and sponsors to develop an
efficient contract farming system, which is mutually beneficial to them. It was
also clarified that no title, rights, ownership or possession of land or any
other property would be transferred.

The state government of Karnataka
recently announced that it would launch a first-of-its kind project called
“State Health Register”.
The aim of the project is to
maintain the health database of all its citizens in the register. As per the
state’s release, a survey of all 6.5 crore people in the state using ASHA team,
Primary Health Centre, members from Revenue and Education Departments. It will
be implemented in Chikkaballapur district on a pilot basis.

Union Ministry of Chemicals and
Fertilizers implements the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojna
(PMBJP) scheme through the network of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi
Kendras (PMBJKs).
The scheme aims to make quality
medicines available at affordable prices to all and reduce out of pocket
expenses for healthcare. The scheme was seen in news recently, as it achieved
sales of Rs. 100.4 Crores in the first two months of 2020-21. During March,
April & May 2020, the Kendras have sold Rs. 144 Crores worth affordable
medicines.

During April, the state of Punjab
launched an operation to contain the outbreak of Coronavirus (Covid-19) named
‘Mission Fateh’.
Recently, the Chief Minister of
Punjab Amarinder Singh has launched a month-long drive to spread awareness
about COVID-19 pandemic under Mission Fateh. This campaign will expand the
coverage of the original mission beyond the frontline workers to include all
general public of the state in fighting the crisis. Various awareness
programmes are to be held across the state.

The state government of Andhra
Pradesh has handed over a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to help auto and
taxi drivers affected due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
The assistance has been delivered
under the YSR Vahana Mitra scheme, that was originally launched in the year
2019, to provide an annual allowance of Rs 10,000 to auto and taxi drivers to
meet insurance premium, license fees and other recurring expenses. This
allowance has been advanced by four months.

The Chief Minister of Andhra
Pradesh, Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy has recently launched the Andhra Pradesh
Environment Management Corporation (APEMC), to mark the World Environment Day
celebrations on June 5.
The Corporation would perform
several prescribed tasks including collecting, segregating and scientifically
disposing off industrial waste. It will also ensure if the industries follow
the waste-management protocol mandated by the state.

The programme is to be implemented
under the Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat initiative, which aims to sensitise the
youngsters about the cultural heritage of the state. The series of film will
also create awareness among children about the heritage of the states to which
the sports belong.

Technology and Innovation Policy (STIP 2020).
To formulate this policy, the
Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India and

The Ministry of Skill Development
& Entrepreneurship, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Ministry of
External Affairs have jointly launched a new initiative named SWADES.
SWADES stands for Skilled Workers
Arrival Database for Employment Support. Since many Indian citizens are
returning under Vande Bharat Mission, this scheme aims to conduct a skill
mapping exercise of the qualified people. The information will be shared with
the companies for suitable job opportunities in the country.

The government has recently
modified public procurement norms to give maximum preference to companies whose
goods and services have 50 per cent or more local content.
The revised Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) Order 2017, has introduced a concept of Class-I, II and non-local suppliers. Class I supplier has local content equal to or more than 50 % local content. Only Class-I local supplier, shall be eligible to bid irrespective of purchase value and hence be given maximum preference in all government purchases.

The state government of Tripura is
launching an initiative named ‘Ektu Khelo, Ektu Padho’, to promote learning
process of school students.
The proposed scheme is to be
started from June 25, for students up to class 8. As per the state’s
guidelines, assignments will be sent to students on mobile phones every
morning, and feedback on their performance is to be collected in the afternoon.
In the state, as many as five lakh students study in 4,733 government schools.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal
Corporation (BMC) of Maharashtra launched ‘Mission Zero’ rapid action plan to
combat Covid-19.
Under the action plan, as many as
fifty dispensary vans will cover various parts of Mumbai for 2-3 weeks to carry
out a preliminary examination of patients. As per the data of the Ministry of
Health and Family welfare, Maharashtra stands at the top spot with maximum
number of people affected by Covid-19 in the country.

Jharkhand is set to become the
first state to launch an employment guarantee scheme for urban poor on the
lines of the Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
The scheme named ‘Mukhyamantri
Shramik Yojna’ will guarantee 100 days of work in a financial year for urban
unskilled labourers. Under the scheme, if the person doesn’t get work within 15
days of request, unemployment allowance would be given. An urban employment
guarantee council would be formed, headed by the Chief Minister and Urban
development minister as the vice president.

YUKTI stands for ‘Young India

Enterprises (MSME) Minister Nitin Gadkari has launched the Credit Guarantee
Scheme for Sub-ordinate Debt, CGSSD.
Under the scheme, a guarantee
cover of Rs 20000 crore rupees will be provided to the promoters who are
willing take loan from banks to invest in their stressed MSMEs as equity.
Promoters will be given credit equal to 15 percent of their stake or 75 lakh
rupees whichever is lower.

virtually launched Atma Nirbhar Uttar Pradesh Rojgar Abhiyan, a campaign to
provide employment to 1.25 crore workers in Uttar Pradesh.

The Union Cabinet has granted its
approval for developing Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (AHRCs) for urban
migrants and poor as a sub-scheme under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban
(PMAY-U).
Ministry of Housing & Urban
Affairs (MoHUA) has initiated an Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (ARHCs)
sub scheme in May 2020. Nearly three lakh beneficiaries will be covered
initially under the ARHC scheme.

The state of Andhra Pradesh has
rolled out an initiative of online registration of crops named e-Crop.
The state’s Revenue and
Agriculture Department officials will jointly register crops online. At village
level, village revenue officers and the village agriculture assistants will
register the names of the farmers, details of their land, bank account and
about his crops cultivated.

Pradesh is set to launch a ‘Roko -Toko’ campaign for urging people to wear
masks.
Roko-Toko in Hindi means stop and
campaign and it seeks to nudge people who do not wear masks in public places to
practise mask-wearing. The state also runs a scheme called ‘Jeevan Shakti
Yojana’, under which selected organisations will provide masks to people at a
price of Rs 20 per piece.

The state Government of Odisha is
implementing a pension scheme named ‘Madhu Babu Pension Yojana’.
Recently, it was announced that
the people of transgender community will also be included in the Pension
scheme. Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided to the destitute
elderly, differently-abled persons and widows. Now, Around 5,000 transgenders
will get a monthly pension between Rs 500 and Rs 900 based on their age.

The Jammu and Kashmir
administration has approved insurance cover of ₹25 lakh to all panchayat
members in the Union Territory.
All elected BDC chairperson,
sarpanches, panches and elected members of municipal bodies are covered in the
event of death due to militancy. Last month, a sarpanch was shot dead by
militants in south Kashmir. The UT also made an amendment to grant short-term
permits to the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) on land up to 1 hectare, till
September 30, 2021.

named ‘Manodarpan’.
The scheme aims to provide
psychosocial support to students for their mental health and well-being during
