Contract Signed Worth ₹661 Crore for Procurement of BrahMos Missile Control Systems
  • The Union Ministry of Defence is undertaking various measures to upgrade BrahMos missiles. In this regard, a contract worth ₹661 crore was signed between the Ministry of Defence and the private entity BrahMos Aerospace for the procurement of control systems and missile-launching equipment. 
  • The agreement was signed in New Delhi on October 6, 2026, in the presence of Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh. The project is designed to boost indigenous manufacturing and benefit Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
  • It is reported that this initiative will generate employment opportunities for a period of three years. The contract will enhance the defence capabilities of the Army and the Navy. 
  • The BrahMos missile is distinguished by its ability to strike targets with high precision and at supersonic speeds. Notably, this agreement aims to upgrade the BrahMos missile system, which holds significant importance for the Indian Navy.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Dedicates 'Surya', the First Indigenous Naval Support Vessel, to the Nation
  • Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh dedicated 'Surya' the first indigenous naval support vessel to the nation at the Hindustan Shipyard in Visakhapatnam. Additionally, he laid the foundation for the fifth vessel and inaugurated the upgraded Slipway-4 and a 300-tonne capacity Goliath crane.
Union Cabinet approves ₹10,000 crore allocation to establish a Growth Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for direct equity investments
  • The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved an allocation of ₹10,000 crore today to set up a Growth Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises. As outlined in the Union Budget for 2026-27, this fund aims to promote growth-oriented capital for the country's SMEs and enable Indian enterprises to emerge as champions in sectors focused on manufacturing, services, technology, and innovation. 
  • This initiative is part of the comprehensive announcements made in the 2026-27 Union Budget, aimed at providing necessary equity capital, funding, and professional support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). 
  • While funds providing equity support already exist, most of them focus primarily on startups and very small enterprises; a gap exists regarding growth-oriented equity capital specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Union Cabinet passes resolution congratulating Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 25 years of leadership
  • The Union Cabinet passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on completing 25 consecutive years as the head of government. Beyond a mere formality, this resolution celebrates the remarkable journey of Prime Minister Modi, guided by the principles of "Nation First" and "Citizen First." 
  • His three consecutive electoral victories in Gujarat and the mandate received in three successive Lok Sabha elections reflect the enduring trust the people have placed in him.
  • The resolution highlights how Prime Minister Modi scaled up successful initiatives from Gujarat to the national level. It notes the nationwide expansion of Gujarat's experience specifically the dedicated electricity supply scheme for agriculture under the 'Jyotigram' (Lighted Village) initiative.
  • The meeting also underscored how Prime Minister Modi’s compassion for the poor has translated into dignity for them. 
  • The resolution detailed how his personal understanding of the people's needs transformed into public service, resulting in achievements such as opening bank accounts for approximately 60 crore people, constructing over 4 crore houses, and lifting 25 crore people out of poverty.
Union Cabinet approves the setting up of an Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority
  • The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, approved the establishment of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named the "Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority" today. 
  • This body aims to strengthen research, planning, evaluation, and monitoring within the transport and logistics sectors. This approval aims to address long-standing challenges caused by a lack of proper planning among various transport-related ministries and agencies. 
  • The Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority will enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and utility of transport infrastructure development in the country by fostering better coordination and the integration of various modes of transport.
  • The Authority will function as a high-level body for integrated transport and logistics planning, research, project appraisal, monitoring, policy support, and data analysis. 
  • It will prepare a comprehensive National Transport Master Plan spanning a decade or more covering roads, railways, ports, shipping, civil aviation, inland waterways, urban transport, and logistics.
  • The Authority will conduct technical appraisals of Central Government infrastructure projects costing ₹500 crore or more.
