World Badminton Championships 2026 – Bronze Medal for Indian Duo Treesa and Gayatri
- In a thrilling semi-final match held in Delhi, the Indian pair fought hard but ultimately lost to the world's number one pair and defending champions, China's Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning.
- The unseeded duo of Treesa and Gayatri started the match impressively, clinching the first game. However, unable to sustain the pressure against the top-ranked Chinese pair, they lost the match 21-18, 13-21, 8-21 in one hour and 11 minutes. With this achievement, they have secured a bronze medal.
- India last won a medal in the women's doubles category at the World Championships in London in 2011, when the pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa won bronze. Now, after 15 years, the duo of Treesa and Gayatri has achieved the feat of winning bronze.
- Through this, the pair has also upheld India's tradition of consistently winning a medal at every edition of the World Championships.
- During a visit to Mauritius on August 20–21, 2026, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri oversaw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Mauritius for mutual bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sectors.
- A long-term sales and purchase agreement for the supply of petroleum products was signed between Indian Oil Corporation and the State Trading Corporation of Mauritius. Under this agreement, Indian Oil Corporation will meet the country's entire import requirements for automotive petrol, high-speed diesel, and aviation fuel.
- This five-year agreement between the two entities ensures a guaranteed long-term supply of fuel to the country. It provides energy security and offers protection against fuel price fluctuations.
