Chief Minister Vijay Announces Full Waiver of Crop Loans up to Rs. 75,000
- Today (August 17, 2026), Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay announced under Rule 110 in the Legislative Assembly an additional waiver of crop loans issued to farmers through cooperative banks, aimed at their welfare.
- Chief Minister Vijay announced that crop loans amounting to up to Rs. 75,000 would be fully waived. For those with loans exceeding Rs. 75,000, a waiver of Rs. 35,000 was announced.
- An order was issued on June 19, 2026, to waive cooperative crop loans totaling Rs. 5,932.23 crore for 14.44 lakh farmers. Of this amount, Rs. 5,267 crore has been released and credited to the accounts of 13.34 lakh farmers as of July 31, 2026.
- Today (August 17, 2026), at the Secretariat, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay launched a mandatory online procedure for the registration of documents specifically for the first sale of plots in layouts and the first sale of apartments through the 'Presenceless Registration' system under the Commercial Taxes and Registration Department.
- To simplify document registration procedures, the Registration Department had previously introduced a system allowing the public to register documents directly online.
- Through this system, the public can register their documents online via the Registration Department's website from anywhere and at any time ('Anywhere Registration'), without the need to visit Sub-Registrar offices in person.
