Central Government Approves 96 More Companies Under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the Textile Sector
- The Central Government has approved 22 new applicants under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the growth of the textile sector. These newly approved companies are expected to attract investments totaling ₹2,339.14 crore, generate business turnover worth ₹15,561.34 crore through notified products, and create 36,217 jobs in the sector.
- A total of 96 companies have been selected across the three rounds of this scheme. It is estimated that these companies will bring in total investments of ₹12,822.67 crore and generate business turnover valued at ₹58,294.18 crore.
- The Central Government has allocated an interim fund of ₹95,692 crore nationwide for its new 125-day employment scheme.
- The details of the funds allocated to states from this interim provision are as follows: Uttar Pradesh: ₹9,721.48 crore (highest allocation), West Bengal: ₹8,508 crore, Andhra Pradesh: ₹7,707.21 crore, Tamil Nadu: ₹7,585.49 crore, Rajasthan: ₹7,581.87 crore, and Bihar: ₹6,715.83 crore.
- The total allocation has been fixed at ₹92,550.17 crore for states and ₹1,291.52 crore for Union Territories. In addition to this, Rs 1,850.62 crore has been allocated for administrative expenses and social audits. Including the mandatory state share, the total annual expenditure for the scheme is estimated to be around Rs 1.51 lakh crore.
- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of a General Pool Office Complex for Central Government offices in the new capital city of Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1,299.08 crore.
- This project is a landmark initiative for the new, world-class city of Amaravati. The objective of the proposal is to house various Central Government offices under one roof. This consolidation will enhance inter-departmental coordination and improve the accessibility of services provided by the Central Government to the state of Andhra Pradesh.
- The Central Government General Pool Office Complex in Amaravati is planned to be constructed on a 5.53-acre site. It will consist of two blocks: one block comprising a ground floor plus 13 floors, and another comprising a ground floor plus 10 floors.
- The complex is designed to accommodate approximately 8,000 officers and staff members. Facilities for parking around 1,800 cars will also be provided. The total built-up area of the project is 23,25,000 square feet (2,16,032 square meters).
- It is estimated that approximately 7,00,000 man-days of employment will be generated annually during the construction phase. At the same time, the operational phase is expected to generate approximately 50,000 man-days of employment annually.
- The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved Phase II of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project. This phase comprises a 6.032 km long corridor extending from Koteshwar Road to the airport, featuring five stations (four elevated and one underground).
- Upon completion and commissioning, a total metro rail network spanning 77.63 km will be operational between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Stations along this route will include Ashram Road, Koteshwar Prachin Mandir, Sabarmati River, Sardar Nagar, and the Airport. The total cost to fully complete the project including interest on construction loans is ₹2,169.04 crore.
- Phase II-A of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project marks significant progress in enhancing the city's infrastructure. It represents a major expansion of the city's metro rail network.
- Under this project, a new 6.032 km metro corridor will be constructed. This will provide seamless connectivity to the airport, link key residential and commercial areas that currently lack adequate transport facilities, and significantly improve public transportation.
- This phase aims to seamlessly connect key areas including residential and commercial hubs—with the existing Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar metro corridor. Furthermore, there are also prospects for developing facilities for athletes in this area for the 2029 World Police Games and the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
