Defence Minister and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Lay Foundation Stones for Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft Integration Centre, Flight Test Centre, and Naval Systems Manufacturing Facility
- On May 15, 2026, in Puttaparthi, located in the Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh, Defence Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu laid foundation stones for various strategic aerospace and defence projects.
- Foundation stones were laid for an Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) Integration and Flight Test Centre in Puttaparthi aimed at accelerating the development of fifth-generation combat aircraft and other future indigenous platforms and for a Naval Systems Manufacturing Facility in T. Sirasapalli village, Anakapalli district, designed to meet the requirements for advanced underwater weapons and naval systems.
- The total allocation for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft project is approximately ₹15,000 crore. Furthermore, the AMCA Integration and Flight Test Centre established by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), a subsidiary of the DRDO constitutes a pivotal component of this project. This centre is being established at an estimated cost of approximately ₹2,000 crore.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed from Delhi today (May 15) on an official state visit to five nations, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He received a warm and enthusiastic welcome upon his arrival in Abu Dhabi.
- Prime Minister Modi signed key agreements in the presence of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Furthermore, reviewing all facets of bilateral relations, the leaders welcomed the further strengthening of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across various sectors, including energy, trade, investment, defense, fintech, infrastructure, education, culture, and people-to-people ties. Additionally, with a view to further bolstering bilateral cooperation, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during this visit between Cochin Shipyard Limited and Dubai’s Drydocks World for the establishment of a maritime infrastructure and ship repair center at Vadinar, under the Maritime Development Fund scheme.
- A tripartite MoU was signed between Cochin Shipyard Limited, Dubai’s Drydocks World, and the Maritime and Ship Building Skill Development Centre regarding skill development in ship repair.
- This agreement establishes a framework for mobilizing, training, and providing employment opportunities to skilled maritime personnel. Furthermore, a Terms of Agreement was signed between India’s C-DAC and the UAE’s G42 for the establishment of an 8-Exaflop supercomputing center through a collaborative partnership.
