RBI Cancels Paytm Bank's License
- On Friday (April 24), the Reserve Bank of India announced the cancellation of the license held by Paytm Payments Bank, which provides UPI and banking services.
- Consequently, as the bank's operations are being discontinued, the Reserve Bank stated that the institution possesses sufficient funds to discharge all its deposit-related liabilities and that it intends to file a petition in the High Court seeking the winding up of the bank.
- It is noteworthy that Paytm Payments Bank had previously been barred from onboarding new customers since March 2022.
