Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated the facility for regenerative cells and sensors in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala
- Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the new state-of-the-art “Central Facility for Regenerative Cells and Sensors” at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram today (01.03.2026). The new regenerative cell facility will enhance drug discovery, medicine and agricultural genetics.
- Speaking about India’s biotechnology development, he said that the country’s bioeconomy has expanded almost sixteen times in the last ten years and has grown from around US$ 10 billion to around US$ 166 billion.
- The Minister said that India is aiming to reach US$ 300 billion in the coming years. Union Minister of State for Biotechnology Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the number of biotechnology startups has increased from around 70 in 2014 to over 11,000 now.
